Hey... everyone. It's Keith.

So a couple things. I guess.

First. Someone brought it up already I think. A while back, but people are going missing. I know it's happened at least a couple times. Not anyone I ever really met, but one guy I was assigned to as a sparring partner, but I couldn't find him. It really seems like he's gone. Even his code has been struck from the network. Which seems pretty deliberate.

Is there anyone else?

If people are disappearing, or wandering off and getting hurt or... worse... I guess most people probably have friends to look out after them. Maybe not everyone though.

But even so, if people are disappearing and none of us know how or why. I think that's something we should probably at least think about and what it means for the rest of us.


Second. So I guess it's a little easier now that there are some colors to help remember, but the whole username code thing is confusing in keeping track of who is who. At least it is for me.

If it were voluntary, what do people think about putting together some sort of directory? Something we could keep updated and search by name and/or code.

It might help us keep track of people too.

And... If people do think it's worth pursuing, I'd be really grateful if anyone better at computers than me wants to help making it user friendly.

EDIT: And apparently some people are turning into statues. Which sounds horrifying. Anyone have info on this? Do we know how to reverse it?

I was more making the point that, at least where some of come from, things do exist that could produce that level of detail and intent without a person's direct supervision.

I'm not committing myself to any particular explanation yet.

So point made. All just more of the fact that we have barely any answers yet. Only questions. And more questions seem to pile up everyday.

Not that we're exactly a paragon of having things figured out.

Indeed.

While I'm not really enthused about fulfilling their tasks when we don't know anything about the source or the motive, I think that's probably the best trail we have right now to try and follow back to whatever's behind the curtain.

Intergalactic travel? I wasn't aware such a thing was possible.

I'm not thrilled about dancing to their tune either. But you're right in that their "rewards" might give us some clue or another about... something. Anything.

Uh huh.

In fairness, humans haven't figured it out. Humans have managed to travel to the edge of the solar system, but not really any farther than that yet. But other alien races are way beyond what Earth technology is capable of. That's what I've gotten used to lately.

None of what they've asked so far has been too objectionable, at least. But that could change.

[ I mean, wolf teeth is a little weird, but wolves are not sentient so ehhh. ]

So far, yeah. It still feels like they're testing how far we'll go.

Starting with spring cleaning seems sort of like an introduction. This time they're harder, more dangerous.

If there's no one from home to watch out for them, then we'll have to step in and help them ourselves.

You think so? [Izuku frowns, but not discounting the theory.] It would be odd if they put so much effort to bring us here, only to make us disappear. And why give us those quests in the first place?

[Something sparks in his eyes now as he thinks.] Oh, that's another reason we should keep the roster. We can keep track of the people who have disappeared and see if there's a pattern to it, too.

Agreed. No one should be left to fend for themselves.

[Keith shakes his head slightly.] Not if we become more of a hindrance or threat than an asset for them. Maybe the disappeared folks saw or heard something they shouldn't, discovered something whoever is running this place doesn't want them to know, or to share. Maybe they brought all of us here for some other purpose, and this is just a holding room until they snatch us off one by one.

[He doesn't mean to be so cynical. But he has his moments.] That's a good point though. It's definitely something I need to work on.

Yeah, of course.

I mean, I don't. I had a hover bike. Boy that thing could fly. I kind of miss it.

Not really morally objectionable, though.

[ Well, maybe some people find the hunting quests unsavory, but between living one end of his childhood in the sticks of Erebonia, and the other in the sticks of Liberl, Joshua's got the kind of pragmatism about killing wildlife that comes from living around farms. Sometimes, you just need to get rid of the pests or predators, and the circle of life continues. ]

I wonder if that's coming further down the line?

Depends on your morals. But fair enough. Hopefully it stays that way.

[Keith is hardly a vegetarian, so hunting didn't bother him. The whole not sure how sentient their quarry was presented a bit of a catch at first, but it turns out not sentient so. Less of a conflict.]

I think the only way to find out is to wait and see.

i was gonna ask why you didnt have a hoverboard but
the answer because i have a hoverbike is an acceptable reason why not

I... [Izuku looks stunned as he takes that all in. His brows draw together in concern.] You have a point. People can be incredibly selfish and cruel when they think there's something to gain. [All he has to do is think of a certain little girl back home and what she's suffered through to know that.]

Well, you won't be doing it alone. [Somber as things might have become, Izuku still tries his best to smile.] I'll keep you updated if I see anything, too.

Yeah, they can be. But... the opposite is true too, right? Sometimes people can be amazingly selfless and brave, even if there's nothing really in it for them. And... I think a lot of people here seem to be the type to want to help.

[There. A ray of optimism. Shiro would be proud.]

Thanks. [There's even a smile now in return, though it's a bit grim somehow.] Yeah. Me too.

Yeah. Hoverboards are kid things you know? Fun to play with.

The hoverbike was great. Fast as hell, as far as terrestrial vehicles go. Nothing like the lions or anything, but. Pretty good. Got me away from about half a dozen of my former instructors trying to chase me down after I broke Shiro out of their custody.

That's also true. It's a relief that everyone's so willing to help each other here. [Just thinking about how badly this could've gone...well, he'd rather not actually think about it, to be honest.]
