Hello, everyone. It's Dextera.

I've recently come into the possession of a potion that allows me to speak with animals. It's limited in both quantity and effective time, but with everyone coming in recently, I've noticed that there are a lot of new animals running around the town. If anyone has very strong feelings about learning the emotions of their animal companions, please let me know. I'm willing to use the last of the potion to ask.

Additionally, it seems that the thoughts of the creatures in the forest are as distorted as their bodies. I could understand them, but I couldn't "understand" them. I did learn that the geese are very angry. For those of us who have been investigating the forest, I thought this would be of interest.

They're not people, so I guess we'd call them animals...?

But if all of the creatures here are mean, I think I'm going to leave those quests up to the people who know how to deal with it... and focus on the kind I can do without superpowers instead!

I think that's for the best. It seems like the quests that don't require brute force are kinder, anyway. The potion I got to help me speak with the animals was probably a fluke.

Animals aren't really as aware as people. They think differently, and so they speak differently, too. My chickens could only tell me that they were hungry, but I did learn that one of our other birds is a girl.

That's not such a bad thing though, is it? I think it would be nice to only have to worry about eating and sleeping! But also kind of boring...

I don't know. It seems like cats do it well enough.

But cats also don't get to do a lot of the fun things we can! And they don't have thumbs!

That's a good point.

But I can't think of anything I'd like to do that a cat couldn't if it tried.

How about singing? Or playing music! Or dancing!

I can't sing or dance anyway, but playing music...

It's not impossible. I did say "if it tried."

I guess a cat can't normally do any of those things, huh... but you're right, it's not impossible!
