Invisibility probably assists in making them aggressive only when attacked. Maybe they would be aggressive otherwise.

Some legends have people becoming cursed when killing unicorns. Others have them cursed by removing the horn even if the unicorn isn't killed. Some people think drinking unicorn blood has properties of immortality or power.
