What a curious device this is. And, a very convenient means of communicating as well — but I'm going off on a tangent.

My name is Ruva, and I'm what one calls "new" here. There seems to be a language that involves gesturing with one's hands, and I was wondering if anyone was willing to teach it to me. I'm afraid I have little to offer in compensation, but I would be ever grateful.

[he means sign language.]

Also, if I'm understanding correctly, we're to complete these quests? While I'm still trying to grasp all this, I'd like to be of help, in those or around the town. I'm not much good in a fight, but I make for a decent healer, if that would be of use to anyone.

[She wants to shoot an apple off Gandharva's head!!!!! IT WILL BE FUN!!! Okuni tosses her laptop away and hightails it over there... Is Ruva already there!!!]

anyway, he has shorter legs so no. but he arrives soon after??]

[She'S NOT GENTLE BY NATURE, SHE BREAKS A LOT OF THINGS but this time the laptop stays miraculously safe.... not that Okuni cares because she's off to see RUVA!!

She'll smile at him once she sees him, looking very much the same with her ridiculous clothes and hair but also with

a slingshot in her left hand and an apple in her right. She's come prepared, at least. And without a gun too, thankfully.]

[wow okay that's good to know but SHE WON'T SHOOT HIM!!! She may be a murderer, but she hasn't murdered any super geezers pretending to be teenage boys yet in her lifetime.]

Not really? You did go through all that trouble to seem helpful. Maybe you could have been so busy being helpful that you forgot about me.

[STOP TEMPTING FATE!! Also this boy... would it kill Gandharva to give Okuni a straight answer fOR ONCE!!!

She approaches him and attempts to stick the apple on his head in reply, there.]

I suppose I should be grateful that you remembered me then. Now, hold still!

I won't hit you this time, since that's not what the quest wants.

[now if the quest said shoot an apple off someone's head and also hit them at the same time... Okuni walks a few feet away, pauses and considers the distance for a moment, before walking off... further... She's about a respectable fifteen feet away before she finally whirls around.]

Okay! This should be far enough.

[She loads a small pebble into her home-made slingshot. It's made from a forked branch and a piece of elastic she managed to find at one of the supply depots, though the elastic is pretty flimsy and not as nice as a real rubber strap would have been. BUT IT'S FINE!! SHE'S TESTED IT. Making sure her shot lines with Ruva's apple....!

Then without further warning, she shoots two pebbles, one after the other. The first one should knock that apple off Ruva's head -- the second is there just in case the first doesn't do its job!! Multi-tasking at its finest.]

he doesn't even blink, which might say something about him. and now we have an apple knocked off his head.]

... Good aim, Miss.

[osuni]

[Okuni closes the distance between them, beaming.]

I've had a lot of practice! It's always fun to hit people with a slingshot. [hm, ANYWAY!! She'll scoop up that sadly colorless apple and with the same casual tone,] Do you think whoever wanted the quest is watching us right now?

[HMMM.]

Should I be glad that you hit only the apple?

It depends on how omniscient they are, I suppose.

[osuni]

[She just unabashedly grins at that question and then promptly pretends that he didn't ask it, rude.

Omniscient though?? Her nose wrinkles at the thought. Who jumps to that idea first tho... ruva....]

All-seeing or not, they still have to see us at some point. Maybe we could pass on a message.

... Do I want to know what your idea of "passing on a message" is?

I don't know what kind of things you're assuming, but it'll be very proper.

Maybe a small explosion of some kind?

Not really. But we're in a new place, so it makes sense to try new things.
