ah, it seems i've lost some time
were those that were disappearing recovered safely, or are they still missing?
i also might have some interesting information
shortly before the disappearances began, i went into the forest with kaoru and mutsunokami
the path shifted around us to lead to a strange cottage, which was entirely empty save for an old woman
she offered the three of us information if we were able to answer her riddles
when asked what happened to the colors in the town, she told us this: "the color disappeared because something very important was forgotten by everyone in the Town, and therefore lost"
we also asked who or what #FFFFFF is, and she simply said that the answer is right before our eyes, "stated very clearly for all to see, if they only know what to look for"
i don't know much of what to make of it, since i only arrived recently, but perhaps those of you who have been here longer will be able to find clues in her words
unfortunately, she and the cottage disappeared as soon as she'd answered our questions, so it will likely be difficult if not impossible to find it again

Are we supposed to be looking for someone with a giant F on their shirt. Or dressed all in black?
Or I know, the black is all our colors mixed together, and it's all of us doing this without realizing it!
no subject
[someone's too ancient for hex codes]
i'd be more inclined toward your second explanation, but i don't know how we could be causing the quests to appear
no subject
[Keigo isn't ancient, but he doesn't know hex codes and has completely missed that #ffffff is white and not black.]
no subject
that might be significant, yeah
i'm not sure how it relates to the old woman's remark, though
is there anything else in the town that remains black regardless of other changes?
no subject
no subject
do you have any idea why that might be?

I do believe nearly everyone made it back safely.
That is certainly an interesting choice of words she used. Though unfortunately all I can offer are theories and thoughts as I haven't been here very long either.
no subject
even theories and thoughts are better than nothing
i wasn't sure where to begin, really

I'm wondering if perhaps the two answers are connected. Lost and forgotten, but is still there for those who know how to look. However, we mustn't let ourselves think one way or another without more information or we could stop thinking of other possibilities.
no subject
do you mean that whatever #FFFFFF is could be the source of the missing colors?
#1A2367
does it mean the previous occupants of this town?
no subject
[He's read that story of sorts, on the forum. But Ginko doesn't know what to make of that, either. It could be literal, or it could be some sort of metaphor.]
i wasn't aware there were any
but i believe i heard the first group of you arrived here with the color already missing, correct?
so it's fairly likely
#030066
I always assumed that #FFFFFF had to be able to see what we were doing, like a god or a conductor, but that makes it sound like they’re not a person at all.
no subject
[It could even be something beyond human comprehension, like the Rule of Nature, where he's from. The natural order itself could have experienced some manner of anomaly.]
no subject
#FFFFFF is sentient somehow, I think, but I’m not sure of anything beyond that.
no subject
it's at least capable of speech, certainly
but if it's supposed to be something we've all been able to see, then it must be in the town somewhere
are there any creatures known to wander the area that seem more intelligent than ordinary animals?

oh man. i'll get down to the creepy town conspiracy theory stuff in a sec
but first off: yeah we figured it out in the end, you missed the big rescue mission to get everyone back
what do you mean you lost time?
no subject
checking on the forum suggested that more time had passed than that
no subject
that's not like
a usual thing for you is it
no subject
i've lost my memories before, but that was a different experience
[waking up in a dark forest with no sense of self or understanding of anything that's happening is a Hell Of A Thing, and very different from whatever this was.]
no subject
either way that sounds... totally heinous, actually.
[ he's basically gonna assume that any weird non-town thing that's ever happened to Ginko is A Mushi Thing. ]
but if it's not your kinda normal that means the town made it happen ig
which seems like a different brand of weird to its usual stuff, but then again you literally walked into a magical vanishing cottage in the woods. so who knows?
no subject
[He's long since gotten over those memories as irretrievable. At this point they might as well belong to a different person.]
but yeah, it's likely the town
though i couldn't tell you how the town did it
i didn't find any mushi in the forest as i'd thought i would
[No mushi, no apparent path of the light vein, pretty much nothing that would signify nature being out of whack???? Except the whole lack of color thing, of course. At this point he has to admit to being well and truly stumped.]
no subject
ig if there's really nothing you picked the best possible way to look at it all tho
[ how are you so consistently zen about literally everything, Ginko........ ]
do you think maybe mushi just don't exist here?
i mean everything here seems like it follows fairytale logic to me. even the thing your forest lady said about the color going away cause everyone forgot something important sounds like a curse or a magic spell, and there's a ton of stuff that exists for real here that doesn't exist at all back where i'm from
the way you talked about mushi when we were down in the well they sound like they're a totally different thing. less of a curse and more just things that sometimes cause trouble for humans without meaning it
no subject
a few months ago i would have been deeply skeptical
a place with no mushi normally couldn't sustain a place teeming with as much life as there is here
it would be more plausible that i had lost my capacity to see them, but that wasn't the case when those portals to the places we came from appeared
[Which...honestly is kind of a relief, as much as it probably shouldn't be. But mushi have been the one constant of his life to this point; it's more distressing than he cares to admit to think about being permanently removed from them.]
but that's correct; mushi do not have the capacity for malice
they are merely living, as any other creature would
no subject
i mean i could be talking out my ass cause i don't think i'm the sorta person who'd be able to see them anyway
but the places we all come from seem to have wildly different laws of physics and magic and stuff. did you ever see any in anyone else's portals?
i just found this buried in my inbox skdjlkfja
i didn't, actually
though you're mistaken that there's any "kind" of person more able to see them than others
people are generally either born with the ability or aren't
[And then you have poor bastards like Kumado who get their souls fed to mushi and replaced with artificial kouki-made souls just so they can carry on the clan's traditions u_u]
IT'S ALL GOOD these things happen
but yeah if you didn't see them in anyone else's reality then that's gotta be a universe thing. at least if i was gonna make a theory then that'd be it
no subject
[it's just ... random ... #mushishi.]
worlds without mushi entirely .... i can't say i ever imagined such a thing before coming to this place
no subject
and well i didn't ever imagine a world WITH them before i got here so ig we're even on that one!!
i mean i imagined worlds with plenty of other weird or unusual stuff, but i never thought i'd ever meet people who actually came from them
#EA0000
I still think it has something to do with that fairytale that keeps getting added to.
Love, maybe?
[Since the guy was in love with another guy from the wrong color.]
no subject
it's hard to believe humans could forget something so essential to their existence as that
[the heart and soul were what set humans apart from other beings, after all -- at least where he had come from]
no subject
[He's spent the last seven months looking at some of the darkest parts of humanity, though.]
no subject
but often enough such things have a root cause in love, don't they?
wanting money or power to support one's family, or to impress the object of one's affections
