It depends, and I've still been kind of leaning about it, but it's definitely not good. It's more a theory of mine, but think of it this way: in a hundred million universes, you probably exist in some of them. Maybe even many. If you step into one of those worlds, you already exist there, so the person you would have been there combines with the person you already are. I've seen it make strange combinations of memories where you remember things that you didn't experience, but the other you did. I've also seen it make something horrible where that other you is dead.

I would appreciate that, if you don't mind. Food does usually seem to help.
