Greetings, one and all. My name is Maribelle, and I trust by now we're all aware of the situation we're in. I believe we should be ready for whatever comes our way, and seeing as we have so many unanswered questions, that could be almost anything. The one thing we can be sure of is that we need to work together. In that same line, I wish to keep a track of everyone's abilities, both mundane and powerful, so we can make the most of our reluctant visit.

For example, we're in great need of seamstresses, blacksmiths, and farmers. But we could also use more people with healing magic, such as myself, and all those with combat skills will be called upon should we ever go into battle. My skills with this sort of metal contraption are lacking, so until I can figure out a way to make this list stay on screen for all to see, you are free to visit my shared home if you wish to see this for yourself once all the data has been compiled.

Now then, I'll start us off.

Maribelle : Healing Staff, Elemental Tomes, Horse. 

Lastly, I wish to apologize to those I met recently and informed me that there are different kinds of magic that can be used without tomes. I may have reacted a tad childishly to this information.

As for your "strength enhancing", can you go into a little more detail?

It's easiest to explain it as strength enhancing, but it allows me to do a lot more things I wouldn't be able to do like jump higher, move faster, and hit harder! It also helped a lot when I needed to carry around the heavy furniture this past week.

How long does it last? And how are you after it runs out?

It lasts as long as I want?? Or until I run out of energy, I guess, but I haven't actually tested how long that would take yet.

As tempting as it is to test such theories, I'd rather not wear you out and exhaust your limits. I want you to be safe, careful and healthy.

All I can recommend is that the next time you're doing so, see if you can try to keep track of any time passing. I've had experiences in battles that ended five minutes or five hours.

To make a long story short, some extremely dull-witted thieves thought they could successfully rob the kingdom's army.

There are times I think villainy and stupidity are separated by a very thin line.

[inheritance]

Wait, does that mean you're part of your kingdom's army?

What exactly do your elemental tomes do anyway?

[troubadamsel]

That is correct. We're called the Shepherds, and you could say we guard a very large flock.

Tomes allow you to harness certain magical abilities. I can summon wind, fire, and lightning and direct them at an enemy. Different classes of mages can summon other things, like using dark magic to suck away your enemy's strength and give it to yourself.

That's really cool, though! Do you mind if I ask you more about the tomes and magical abilities? And mage classes?

[So... basically everything.]

I'd be happy to inform you, one question at a time.

Okay...tomes first, then! You mentioned needing them for your magic...how do they work?

[troubadamsel]

To start with, not everyone can use them. It's like being born with a certain talent. No matter how much I train with the blade, I will never be a swordmaster, for example. People like myself host magical energy within us, but we can't bring it out unless we have tools. A swordmaster without his sword is pretty useless, after all.

Tomes are made to bring out the magical energy in us. The first and most basic tomes are for Wind. We open the tome, concentrate our energy, and decide where to aim it. The tome picks up our energy and converts it to physical form. In this case, the tome turns the energy into wind, and strikes at where I am aiming.

So is that how you test for magical energy? By giving them a tome to see if they'll be able to use it?

Is there such a thing as someone being able to use only certain kinds of elemental tomes or are you able to use all of them as long as you have the magical energy?

[troubadamsel]

There is one other way to test it, and that's with another magical tool - a healing staff. It's a blessed piece of equipment that turns your magical energy into physical energy, allowing you to heal wounds and restore strength to another person. In fact, there are types of magic users who can only use healing staffs and not tomes.

Then there is a third set of magic - Dark Magic. They can't use elemental tomes, and instead use dark tomes. That kind of magic is much more dangerous, and has lasting effects on your enemies. I'll admit, my knowledge in this area is lacking, because I can't use dark magic. However, I do have a companion from my world who does. His name is Henry.

To sum up, there are three different types of magic classes.

Healing.
Healing and Elemental, of which I belong to.
Dark.

Where do you get the elemental tomes and the healing staffs from?

Also, do you think Henry would mind if I asked him about the Dark Magic?

In my land, you can buy them at shops, sometimes alongside swords and axes. They're all essential tools, after all.

As for Henry, I don't think he'd mind. Just don't ask him to experiment.

Whoa really? So there must be craftsmen who specialize in creating those tomes!

Why not? Is it that dangerous?

Well.

Henry is a unique individual. He's always smiling, even when he's deeply injured and in great danger. He never takes anything seriously. Honestly, he joined our side of the battle just because, to him, if we lost too soon, it wouldn't be as much fun.

[inheritance]

So... you're basically telling me it's okay to ask him questions, but be careful when I'm talking to him?

Yes, that's a perfect way to put it.
