sort of depends on what you count as useful
did mention strengthening bonds though so at least that's consistent
and he gave some suggestions
I can't tell if he really wants to help us, or he's just watching us to see what we'll do

I don't know what he meant, I didn't get a message. But at least this one isn't as cryptic as stealing somebody's color.

no. they're actually really straightforward which is the weird part
it's possible there's maybe a reason. that's the other reason I'm making sure I'm not the only one
if I am, then there might be a reason

It took me a while to start talking to people about my home life.

Are you asking?
I started talking about quirk marriages and why they fell out of common practice. Then I started talking about my upbringing and the way he treated me and my mother. After that it was how much my mother grew to hate half my face because it looked like my father's. He's an awful abusive old man who never should've had children.

so...it was steps. one thing first, and then an explanation about something else, and then something else until the whole story made sense

He's an asshole you can say it. Everybody should say it.
I've told six people including you.
My mother is still trapped in a hospital because of him. She can't even leave for parent's day.

my parents didn't stay together after I was born. my dad disappeared and my mom was left to raise me by herself. but she ended up marrying this guy when I was really young who treated her like she was the most worthless person in the world. he was...I don't really have words for him that aren't "also a huge, abusive asshole", but my mom stayed with him for as long as she did because she was trying to protect me
she's remarried now. she and my ninth grade english teacher got married a little while ago and things got better
so I guess my point is that I hope the same happens there because nobody deserves that, and maybe your dad will end up being sold as a sculpture, too

That sucks. I'm glad that she managed to get away from that guy. He sounded terrible and nobody deserves having to deal with somebody like that. But she must really love you to endure all of that.
I think there are toys of him, but none of them are sculptures. I hope nobody made a sculpture of him. He doesn't deserve it.

I am, too. he smelled terrible on top of being terrible.

you mean like action figures? and why not? gabe didn't deserve a sculpture either but the money my mom got from selling it was enough to go back to college and put a deposit on a new apartment.

He's got a lot of action figures and dolls made of him. They don't sell as well as the other heroes. [Which Shouto takes a spiteful satisfaction in.]
It sounds like you're both doing a lot better these days.
