So since we've all gotten back from the frozen palace I've decided that we need to think of some way to be prepared for such events in the future. Whatever is going on around here is steadily growing bigger, and we're critically unprepared for the unknown. It's pretty damn lucky we all got out of that place as good as we did.
I've been working on making an emergency kit just in case we find ourselves stranded or attacked without warning. It needs to be something to keep on us at all times, but it'll take some teamwork to make sure everyone has one.
Food isn't the biggest issue. Collectively we've been curing and storing supplies throughout the entire summer, so rations for a couple days are simple to provide to everyone who can eat them. A small weapon, too, in case we're stuck without ours, or our abilities.
For the season we have to be mindful of weather. We have a lot of animal skins, but we need a better way to insulate them so that we all have something to protect us from the elements. There's already been a severe drop in temperature, not even counting our vacation, so I can only assume it's going to get worse before we see springtime. These can also double as a wrap for the other supplies.
I haven't figured out how to guarantee a supply of water yet, and there's the matter of making it compact enough that carrying it around or sleeping with it won't be that irritating, and I know plenty of you have some experience in survival. I'm open to all suggestions to make sure every one of us is accounted for in a disaster.
On a second note. We need some kind of plan in case we get hit with a storm. The town is considerably spread out, and the chances of getting trapped in blizzard conditions is higher than I'm comfortable with. I propose we designate a shelter we can all go to when we need to bunker down and defend ourselves. It'll be easier to keep one well-stocked building warm than risk one of us get stuck without firewood and buried in ten feet of snow.
Before I close this: Have any of you figured out how to elf-proof your home? Those little bastards are persistent.

Wow. Just wow. That's pretty impressive, what he's written out so far. ] You've really thought of a lot, haven't you? I'm surprised you didn't suggest some place for a shelter yourself already.

Admittedly I'm not specialized for sitting safely in one spot until the danger is over.
And yeah, I haven't gotten a good look at them, but I've certainly heard them. They're real enough. Rahm almost caught one that somehow snuck into my house while I was trying to sleep. The quest we were given just said to fend them off, so I'm assuming they're going to keep attacking all month. I'd hate to find out what their goal is.

I'm sorry to heart that, about the elves, but I can't exactly tell you what they might even want from you. I've never encountered them myself, but... maybe setting some traps might work? [ Though from this post alone, she bets that he's already thought of that. ]

i mean...i have one? but with some plastic and a stone we could make something similar...but i guess it doesn't work as well in the cold...

The cold can be an issue, but if we set one up inside where it's insulated we can keep it warm enough to work?

the insulation in these houses aren't very good...but you know, if it's supposed to december then doesn't that mean it will start to get warmer soon?
