Hello. My name is Link. I am Zelda's bodyguard. I hope everyone is staying warm.

Anyway... I liked to cook back at home. I cooked very often, in fact. All types of dishes from all around Hyrule. I'm self-taught.

Since coming to this place, I've found some things in the woods and around town that I would like to experiment with in cooking.

I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to assist me, or maybe even be my guinea pig for some of my attempted dishes. If you're wishing for some special meals in particular... maybe I can be that "Fairy Godmother" thing for you.

And, if you already know anything about local ingredients, I would love to know.

Most is from the woods. Some items are definitely food, but they're all grey, or only partially colored... some other things are full-color but I'm not sure what they are or if they taste good. Nuts, mushrooms, flowers, grasses and herbs that smelled interesting.

I also have a lot of food that appeared mysteriously in my house last month. This enormous feast appeared on my table overnight. I think I was supposed to eat it all back then, but I saved what I could instead.

Ah, I see. I can tell you that the gray ones won't taste like much, until they get their colors back; when we all first arrived here, everything was gray and it was like eating wood pulp and ashes until we were able to return some color to things.

That's practical of you, though, to have saved what you could. Was it all food you recognized from your own world?

That has been my experience with grey food as well so far, but I'm curious to cook with it anyway... you never know

Yes, the mystery food was all from my world. It was around the time others were getting mysterious items from home that they wanted, so I believe it was part of that strange event?

Very well, I'll be interested to see if you can manage to make something of it. The best I ever did was covering up the greyness with something else.

Did you complete the quest last month for it? Ring the bell and whatnot?

I did but I didn't ask for food... it must have come from somewhere else. Who knows...

At least I know it's safe to eat, since I didn't get sick from the portion I've already ate

Strange. Still, I suppose there is that old saying about gift chocobos and beaks.

Would you be interested in saving some as seedlings, to grow in the garden come the spring?

I've got a catch-all log up if you wanna log them testing out ingredients!

Oh! That's a fantastic idea! Then we can grow more, and everyone can have some! The tubers especially will definitely grow right?

It's what I've tried to do whenever possible, when a new food resource comes along. Already we're well beyond the meager supplies we'd started out with when I arrived — our fruit resources, especially, have grown considerably.

It's generous of you to share. If you like, I'll offer to cook you a dish myself in exchange, as thanks for the contribution.
