i'll admit i've forgotten many of the details.
and i never really paid attention when my parents tried to find me a bride, so i couldn't remember those women even if i tried.

That makes sense, though, doesn't it? You're not interested in women in the first place. Is it even considered acceptable for men to have relationships like that with other men, let alone be married, in your world? Or culture?

you know, i'm not entirely sure? i've certainly never seen a marriage between people of the same sex before, and romantic relationships aren't something i've ever held interest in.

continuing the family line is an important aspect of marriage though, and so i believe at the very least it must be very rare.

You're right about that. If someone doesn't know what they're doing and they play matchmaker, it could really turn out to be disastrous!

i certainly hope you've never experienced such pain yourself; or if it has, that it follows the way of all wounds, and fades away with time.

I think everyone can relate to that sort of pain, don't you think? It's like losing someone, but yes, you are right that the old adage goes that time heals all wounds. For some scars remain, and some are trapped by those wounds. The few strong, however, who are more resilient, grow from their experience.

I think that, for those who are able to love and give their hearts to others and have the luxury of having another's heart in return, [ Like humans... ] It's important to remember what good came from it, and how beautiful that feeling is. And I think it really must be beautiful, to have something like that.

You are a very lucky man, Xie Lian, to find something like that here.

you're right. i've lost many people myself, over the years, and those are scars that may never truly disappear. it's important to be able to move on though, if one wishes to survive in this world

or any world, i suppose!

being able to love another, regardless of whether it is friendship, family, or a significant other, really is something that can bring light into a person's life - and our friendship is something i will cherish for years to come.

A god or an immortal would have to be able to cope with loss quite frequently :( You definitely have a strong heart, to be able to go through everything and be as sweet as you are! That's not a strength everyone has. Since we're on a public forum, mind sharing some advice for coping with loss? Either with a broken heart or with a loss of a loved one. I'm sure many here would be able to appreciate it!

That's really kind of you to say so. You are someone I'm very blessed to have gotten to know you so well, and I'm not just saying that either. :)

Which is a good reminder, in the end, especially to those who may need to heart something like it in their lives. ] You are absolutely right! If we focus too much on what we have lost or what has happened, we will never be able to see what we have in our present, and our future will be cloudy.
