Hey... everyone. It's Keith.

So a couple things. I guess.

First. Someone brought it up already I think. A while back, but people are going missing. I know it's happened at least a couple times. Not anyone I ever really met, but one guy I was assigned to as a sparring partner, but I couldn't find him. It really seems like he's gone. Even his code has been struck from the network. Which seems pretty deliberate.

Is there anyone else?

If people are disappearing, or wandering off and getting hurt or... worse... I guess most people probably have friends to look out after them. Maybe not everyone though.

But even so, if people are disappearing and none of us know how or why. I think that's something we should probably at least think about and what it means for the rest of us.


Second. So I guess it's a little easier now that there are some colors to help remember, but the whole username code thing is confusing in keeping track of who is who. At least it is for me.

If it were voluntary, what do people think about putting together some sort of directory? Something we could keep updated and search by name and/or code.

It might help us keep track of people too.

And... If people do think it's worth pursuing, I'd be really grateful if anyone better at computers than me wants to help making it user friendly.

EDIT: And apparently some people are turning into statues. Which sounds horrifying. Anyone have info on this? Do we know how to reverse it?

I know some of them. Er... that is. I have them written down back home. I can't remember them at all off the top of my head.

we went into the woods once already in organized parties. if people are up to it, we can reorganize again. that is the good thing about this place and the people here. people don't like sitting around.

Yeah. This place is pretty warped that way.

What do you mean? I'm not sure I follow.

Like, if someone just left a recording, or a note. The technological equivalent of something like that.

That's true. There's also the docks and the water. And the town itself. There are buildings no one is using very often, after all, some of them falling down on themselves. That's the sort of place someone could get stuck or hurt.

But there's still someone doing it, no matter what the mechanism. And whoever that is, they're the one that has to be behind this.

Right. But it's possible they're not here to respond, or even aware of us trying to open contact. Everything they're telling us might just be some kind of autopilot.

If so, that would raise a whole new set of questions, but I think it's possible there's something other than malice keeping them from responding to us.

that's not bad! but the other ones are more exciting, and they're not that hard to use once you get used to them.

But these quests are accompanied by things happening. And by "rewards" so someone has to be paying attention. Someone or something has to be actively a part of this.

Anything is possible with motive, but it feels pretty malicious, has from day one.

But. What's the point of them? I mean, they're just extra typing.

Aren't they?

it doesn't take THAT long to type them. and yes, they're exciting! they make people smile! you could put them in messages you send to your friends.

I think my friends would worry I'd lost my mind.

They'd come to check on me.

We had these so-called artifacts, back home. They did seemingly impossible things, they could be triggered by human desire...all of that without being sentient, they were just objects. So I don't think that things happening is a guarantee that whoever set this up is watching.

If in your case your friend's memories came back, however briefly, then at least they know what they've lost.

That said, I can't imagine it would be very hard to live your life in ignorance. I wouldn't pity them for it.

i don't think it would be that bad! and if they did come to see you, then you could teach them everything you've learned. (o^▽^o)

Look, like I said. Anything is possible.

But I'm going to err on the side of believing someone set this up for a reason, and we're definitely being watched. Probably most closely on the network.

They gave us laptops. With our names on them. There is a lot of intent and detail to just shrug off as "maybe it's some automated thing." Everything I've seen leads me to believe there's someone behind this, someone very much still involved. If more evidence comes up that leads in another direction, fine. All any of us have right now are guesses and theories, myself included. And either way we need to figure out the truth if we're ever going to get home.

Yeah. I know he hasn't recovered everything from that time. A lot has come back though. But he's strong. The strongest person I know, so if anyone can handle it, it's Shiro.

Either way. I don't know if there's any way for us to keep track of our memories if whatever brought us here decides to mess with them. I haven't seen any evidence of that yet, except for none of us knowing how we wound up down that well in the first place, at least.

i've been checking some of the old buildings lately.
if we make it a point to do a sweep of the town at least once every couple of days we can probably prevent stuff like this from going unnoticed for a while.
what else do we have to do here?

So yeah, not much. It kind of sounds like you're suggesting setting up some sort of patrol.

like how do you make them? that's not something that's easy to type out! you can copy and use mine, or i can show you how to make all kinds of new ones whenever we meet. ʕ ᵔᴥᵔ ʔ

but yeah, maybe i am. it would be worth a try. keep us busy, keep us alert.

I can't say I've figured out how we ended up here, but I'm certain I'm not missing any memories. Nothing happened before our arrival--it was almost certainly instantaneous.

Frankly, magic is a likely cause. We simply need to find the source of it.
