Question for anyone. Or for everyone I guess.

How sure are you that you're still alive? Back where you're from I mean.

Like on a scale from 1 to 10. Where 1 is "I definitely died" and 10 is "I'm definitely still alive" and everything in between.

Thanks in advance. I know it's a weird question. I just... I gotta know.



[He's asked some folks, but the results so far are mixed. And Keith needs to figure out one way or another if this is just some weird unexpected afterlife, and he's at a solid 2.5 on his own scale so he's wondering.]

You have quite the variety of responses. It seems to be unanimous that only the living reside here, regardless of what had happened in each individual's world.

Then I suppose that would raise the question of whether or not the few who claim to be dead would return to being dead should we succeed in finding a way out of this realm. This place could very well be a second chance for them.

As for myself, I was falling. I don't remember hitting the ground, but I would prefer to believe I never did.

Maybe you're right though. It's another question about what the hell this place really is.

But uh. No to be insensitive, but if you're falling, you gotta hit ground at some point right. As long as there's gravity?

From what I've gathered, people here have been pulled from their worlds at completely random moments. I could very well have been taken from mine mid-fall, before I landed.

Therefore, to properly answer your question: 10. I was most definitely alive.

But even then, it'll be a one in about a minute, if I make it back to that moment.

Would you prefer to stay in this dreary world, then? Rather than return to your own?

It was my choice.

And nope, not even a little. I want to get back where I belong, even if that's dead I just want to make sure that my being here doesn't disrupt the collision. I need my friends to be okay. The universe needs them to be okay.

To face death is worth the reassurance that those you care about are safe, is it? I can understand that.

You must have quite the friends, if your entire universe relies on them.

They're definitely something, yeah.

They're the paladins of Voltron. And they're the only chance there is of ending the war.

The name is unfamiliar. Admittedly, the concept of multiple worlds is unfamiliar as well. I'm still wrapping my head around it.

It's a lot to get used to. I guess I'm lucky to have some experience with alternate realities. It makes this a little less jarring.

I don't suppose you would have any extended knowledge on the topic that you would be willing to share, then.

How does one even cross between these alternate realities, for starters?

in my case, there was a tear between the universes caused by some sort of trans-reality comet. Something about the material that it was made out of.

On the other side, there were other versions of people we knew, but the entire universe was different. History had happened differently. Everything was all twisted up.

[most of that goes right over her head, but she rereads it a few times in an attempt to catch it.]

Then it's possible you and I could be "other versions". Versions of our selves that had narrowly escaped death at the last moment. In our own worlds, or in some other version of it, we could truly be dead.

Maybe. The whole alternate reality thing is a real mess sometimes. I can't pretend to understand it.

Either way, I still plan on trying to find a way out of here, to find out for sure one way or another.
