Any of you who were able to go to the town meeting organized by Mitsuru will know that we discussed a designated defense force for the town. For those of you who weren't, or for anyone who wants a recap, I'll go over this as briefly as I can.

We know the forest is full of creatures not everyone understands, and that those dangers— or something similar— can leak into the town and cause trouble here, too. Those shadows were a perfect example, just like the speaking furniture. We're not always safe, and while there isn't always a threat that we can deal with physically to overcome it, having a defense force would make a lot of people more comfortable. Having people that are physically capable with someone at the top to organize them would be helpful to everyone, I think, especially those who aren't so combat ready.

So, I'm stepping up as leader. I didn't hear any opposition to that at the meeting itself, but if you want to know more about me, you can ask me whatever you want. Here's what I'm going to ask of all of you.

If you're interested in helping and capable in combat, no matter what methods you may use, then I'm asking you to sign up here. I'll keep a list of everyone, including their abilities and strengths/weaknesses, and organize this in a way that's most efficient. In order to do that, I also need suggestions.

Izuku mentioned patrols near the forest. That's one idea, and I want to hear any others that are out there, but here's the basic rundown:

I'll organize people by their strengths and put them in charge of certain activities or areas. How I do this depends on the number of people that sign up. If enough people sign up, I might assign ranks just enough for people to be able to report to someone even if I'm unable to be contacted or out of reach somehow. Once everyone who has wanted to has signed up, we'll schedule meetings and discuss what to do in case of an emergency, or other situations. Basic things like that are what I'm looking into, and most of it will come after I've heard from all of you, but let me know if you have any questions on any of it.

Before I end this, I have another quick question. What do you think our biggest weakness has been in all of this? What has caused the most harm, and if there was a drug that could aid you in this place, what would it be? A first aid or pain reducer? Strength enhancers? Magic resistance?

[Sensei, you're so busy!!]

Three hours, got it. See you later!

[Thankfully the laptops still tell the time, even if they're lacking actual dates. Izuku watches the time carefully and heads over when three hours are up. Heads up, Guren, there's a knock at the door.]

[swordfucker]

[ A very busy sensei!! As usual, he takes a minute to answer the door, and lets Izuku in without much of a pause. ]

Hey. How are you doing, by the way?

[inheritance]

Me? [Izuku pauses, then smiles at Guren. His teacher of all people knows just how shaken he had been at some of the things he'd realized because of the shadows attacking, and Izuku...Izuku had gone to him for comfort then. It's something that he shouldn't really allow himself to do anymore.

After seeing just how much his actions had affected his friends, Izuku knows that he needs to step it up and pull himself together. How is he supposed to take All Might's place if he's just causing people more anguish?

So he smiles, and this time it's actually convincing.]

I'm doing fine. Ready to help out and everything.

[swordfucker]

[That's good and all, but don't think you can escape from his watchful eye, Izuku!! He's Watching!! He jabs his thumb over his shoulder.]

I've got everything in the basement. Follow me.

[And just like that, he leads him into a new area of the house! The basement looks largely unused, even if there's another fireplace down here and two large rooms. He's got a table with a few plants set out on it, ready for Izuku to look and examine and take if he wants. For reference.]

[Watch all you'd like, Guren! Izuku won't slip this time... probably.]

These, right? [Being the curious boy that he is, Izuku immediately beelines for the table to get a closer look.]

[swordfucker]

That's them.

[They're vague plants I made up, but Guren quickly goes over the differences between these specific ones and other ones Izuku might run into that aren't quite as useful. Leaf shapes, shading differences, etc.]

If it's too much to remember, you can take them for reference. I have more.

[inheritance]

It's okay! I'll just sketch them really quick... [Out comes his notebook! He came prepared.

Izuku flips to a new page and begins sketching the plants on the table while noting on the side what the properties are.]

How did you even find these, anyway?

[swordfucker]

A lot of searching in the forest. Some are deeper than others, but don't go too far for any of these. I made sure to pick out ones that wouldn't give us trouble, right now.

[inheritance]

[Izuku hums as he continues to sketch.]

Okay, I won't go too deep into the forest. Must have taken you a long time to figure out what these plants do, though.

[swordfucker]

Yeah, it did.

[He doesn't offer any other information on the process. He's just quiet, watching Izuku sketch.]

[inheritance]

[That part isn't surprising, so Izuku blissfully oblivious, leaves it alone.]

What effects have you managed to get with the plants so far?

[swordfucker]

A lot of them need to work together to create anything useful. Some can extend the life of other ingredients, or stretch out the ingredients to create more of them. Some just enhance the effects. Others try to push the limits of what the human body can take.

[Complicated sounding BS stuff.] It's a lot of different things like that.

[inheritance]

So a lot more experimentation before you get anything like what I mentioned.

[He looks thoughtful.]

Do you need another hand in putting these together?

[swordfucker]

I just need you to collect them. As many as you can.

[He's quick to answer, and quick to keep Izuku away from anything else involving this.]

[inheritance]

O-okay. [With that, his sketching is done, and Izuku flips his notebook closed again.]

Should I bring you anything else that might look like... herbs or useful plants while I'm at it?

[swordfucker]

No. [Again, it's quick.] You could end up wasting energy on ones I've already tried out. If you find something exceptionally unique that you can't find anywhere else, then you can pick it up. Otherwise, don't bother.

[inheritance]

[Well, that sounds reasonable enough! Izuku nods, tucking his notebook under his arm.]

How much of these plants do you want? As much as I can find?

[swordfucker]

Yeah, but leave some to keep growing so we don't kill them out.

[So, if they come in patches, don't completely take it all.]

[inheritance]

Got it!

I check the edges of the forest pretty often, so I'll keep an eye out for these plants while I'm out.

[swordfucker]

[SOUNDS GOOD TO HIM... And of course, straight to business, he's short in his response.]
