USER: #2471A3 - Inquiry Regarding Foodstuffs and Other Edibles

It appears that as a group we've all generally agreed to utilize this forum as a means of sharing relevant information with each other and pooling collectively our experiences as we grow acclimated to our new circumstances, so in a similar vein — a few questions, if you will.

1) Has anything verifiably edible (and safe for consumption) been found in the wilds surrounding this town?

2) Has anyone yet identified a foodstuff that isn't altogether flavorless?

1. Two heads. Extra fins. Limbs where there shouldn't be.

1) And you ate them?
2) I've dabbled in the craft, yes.

1. I have some stomach medicine. They're still fish. They taste as much like ash as anything else.
2. Must be even rougher for you.

I am properly aghast at some of the tales I've been hearing come out ever since I made this topic, indeed.

[glaciers]

I'm not sure what you were expecting.

Common sense, for one thing?

Though there does seem to be a shortage of sense in general, in a place like this.

[glaciers]

We're in a town with no color. You're asking for a lot. We can't rely on whatever preserved foods are here.

[unfatalist]

That's an interesting point you make, though. There were preserved foods here, were there not? That's a particularly conspicuous sign of recent life. It's difficult to gauge the age of ruined buildings, for example, but preserved and still-edible food speaks of a recent population that appears to have abruptly disappeared.

[glaciers]

There are in what used to be general stores. There's some but not a whole lot.
It doesn't seem like there was a huge fight or anything.
If there were people, they just left. I think.

Interesting. But we've yet to find any sort of road out of the city proper, correct?

[glaciers]

There's the forest and what's probably an ocean.
Maybe they were better at navigating one or the other.
