hey forums! my name's prompto argentum, i'm another one of the new guys. if you're one of the people who helped me last week i wanted to thank you all and let you know i'm fine now!! (*´╰╯`๓)♬ i've been staying with my friends in bluo and so it took me a while to go look for my laptop in flavo.

anyway i'm sorta curious about something. do a lot of people here come from worlds where magic is really commonplace? like, magic's deffs a thing where i come from but not a lot of PEOPLE have it, you know what i mean? it's in the environment and of course the astrals are magic and some wildlife and monsters have it but it's restricted to only a couple important bloodlines in humans, them and the people they share it with.

you don't have to answer if it's personal and you're like a magical vigilante with a double life or something, i just sort of wanted a sense of where everybody's at since it's so weird to me to see so many people talking about or using magic powers so casually. not bad weird!! just weird.

My world has magic, and I use it, as I am a Valkyrie class. I am capable of wielding elemental tomes and using healing staffs.

The books are tools, and only certain kinds of people can wield them. We draw upon our energy to cast whatever magic is within the tome, such as fire, wind, and lightning. Similarly, my staff is imbued with healing magic.

ohhhhh that's interesting! so it's more like shining a light through colored glass to get a particular color light, but with magic. that's not how it works in our world at all! well, i think. i'm not a magic scientist.

I suppose that's one way of looking at it, yes. But even I can't do other kinds of magic. There is dark magic, and curses, neither of which I can do.

I'm afraid I can't go into the specifics of how or why they work, as I don't have the ability to use them. But from what I can tell, curses are usually a matter of gathering the right ingredients and giving them your energy, and dark magic physically drains your opponent.

I'm assuming that jumble next to your words is supposed to be a face of worry. Dark magic and curses may sound bad, but they can be used for good purposes.

i don't know, though i guess the way you phrased it sounds pretty neutral and practical....... still, sometimes people do things that sound good to themselves but everything about it's really messed up and bad. you're sure dark magic isn't like that? i mean, it sounds...dark.

Dark just means dangerous. Think of it this way : magic is a tool, and ultimately no tools are evil. It all depends on what the person is using them for. A sword can be used to defend the innocent, or slaughter the defenseless.

i understand what you're saying but i don't know if i agree. sometimes...sometimes the way tools are made is evil to start with.

I wasn't. Believe me, those types can't hide well. Anyway, I was only guessing you had run-ins with something terrible and traumatic, so I can hardly blame you for your opinions.

yeah. something like that exists in my world. i've seen some of the process and by now all of us there are really familiar with the results.

huh. you have a point but noct usually whips it out when we've got a lot of bodies to target at once. most of his spells have a pretty good splash range is what i mean.

well i don't know if he'll want to but i guess it won't hurt you to ask! the worst that can happen is he'll say no, but magic really takes it out of him so don't try to force him into it.
