This is Lt. Colonel Guren Ichinose of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. I don't expect that to mean anything to any of you, but if it can make anyone take me a little more seriously, then I'll take it.

I'm sure you all saw the illustration of those apparent shadow monsters. If there are dangers, it means we should be ready for them, and somehow I've run into a surprising few people who have enough experience in combat. Some of them don't have any at all.

Would any of you be interested in learning how to fight? To defend yourselves? What about the capable out there— are you willing to teach, or spar to improve yourselves? Let me know, and I can set something up for regular practicing.

(OOC: Basically, I thought it might be fun to encourage more random CR with both characters who would like to learn how to fight, and characters who already know how and are willing to teach or spar! If there's enough interest, I can throw up an ooc post with match up sort of things that can provide a semi-regular chance for new CR (via threading or handwaving). Let me know in your tag, or via PM if your character won't tag the post!

Edit: I put up an ooc sign up! Please remember to sign up there if you'd like your character to be included in some fighting (and friendship) styled pair ups!)

I've met people also from Japan who said the same thing. Nothing is going to add up here, so just accept it for what it is.

Still... you know how to wield those but you don't have either with you? Did you stop using them?

I've already accepted it as such. I've fought demons, but I suspect not in the same way that you do.

I have a sword with me. Getting more to arm others is what I spoke as a challenge.

Most people skilled enough to hold a real sword already have one of their own, too. Anyone brand new will start with wood, and I can take care of that if it comes up.

What demons have you fought?

True, going from a shinai or a bokken would at least allow them some defense...

Various mythological beings born of mankind's beliefs, I suppose. Sometimes humans themselves. What kind of demons have you fought?

We don't fight demons. We fight vampires. Demons help give us the power that we need for that.

Vampires. So the demons are allies in your case? Or do you form contacts with them?

It's more like the latter. Demons only agree to grant human powers in exchange for the opportunity to take over their body.

A double-edged sword then...the only good way to fight these vampires you speak of, but I suspect could turn the user into a victim if they are not careful or strong of mind.

All demons had personalities. We were able to figure out what they liked and hated and reacted to them accordingly so we could get items, information or the ability to use them in combat.

Suffice to say, weapons are not the only tools I have that are useful for combat.

Lieutenant Colonel, actually. I won't hear the end of it if I accidentally give myself a promotion.

Still, that's a shady way to say it. Why can't you put it to words? You have some sort of ability?

I do. I suppose it does sound strange. I stand by my words however. I would rather show it than attempt to explain it.

[Mostly because he knows other Persona users are watching. He'll give them the privacy for now. For all of a few days, anyway.]

Fine. Where do you want to meet? If you want to get matched up with anyone, then I need to see what you're talking about first.

Somewhere near the forest.

[Away from town, at least.]

If you don't trust me, feel free to bring someone with you that you do. This isn't an attempt to ambush you, but it is better seen in a larger area.

I don't care about that. The forest is huge, and going too deep could mean running into those shadows. Pick a spot and I'll meet you there.

I'll be easy to spot. A bluish scarf is my trademark. All my at the most-eastern side of the forest's entrance.

Give me twenty minutes and I'll be there.

[Since he's still dealing with everyone else. But once enough time passes, he's on his way, and he ends up walking just a couple minutes late compared to what he said at the meeting spot. He's in uniform, so he doubts he'll be mistaken for anyone else.]

[Kei on the other hand, may not be in uniform, but the leather outfit he wore seemed expensive, tailor-fit and contrasted greatly compared to the blue scarf he wore around his neck. He had been here early, but he didn't seemed annoyed by the other's few minutes of lateness.]

Correct. If you don't mind, I would rather if you called me by my family name, Lieutenant Colonel Ichinose. I'm used to others addressing me in that fashion.

[Very few people call him by his first, after all.]

Yeah, fine.

[Nanjo, then. He won't even say it aloud because he's a jerk, but the guy should be lucky that he's agreeing to change it at all. Usually he just does what he wants.]

[He'll take his victories as tiny as they are.]

Very well. As I mentioned it is easier to show than to explain...

[He's not one to waste time either. And so, the winds began to pick of briefly, before bluish energy concentrated from under him before he uttered a single word, not with passion like some of his friends, but more one of control.]

Persona.

[The giant dragon reforms behind him, easily four times his height, slithering into the air before roaring.]

This is one of the powers that I wield.

[ Interesting. That sure is a dragon, and Guren looks at it with heavy interest, a hand resting at his sword. ]

What can it do? Throw whatever you want at me. I can take it.

Different types of magical attacks such as fire, ice and physical. A few protection spells...

[He looks at the other, raising a single eyebrow before continuing.]

I do not doubt your fighting prowess, but forgive me for being prepared and having a healing spell on standby.

[He moves into position, his own sword out and in front of him. It's not needed, but it feels more natural to have it when using the Persona's spells.]

Well then. Let us begin. Go.

[The dragon roars, before sending a gigantic blast of fire towards the other.]

[Now that's some fire!! Guren grins when he sees it, drawing his sword in a smooth motion.]

Swallow it whole, Mahiru-no-yo.

[It's the perfect way to test how strong the blast really is. As he swipes his blade across the incoming attack, even an incredibly strong gust would be swallowed. It's only noble vampires that really stand a chance against something like this. Which means, that fire probably looks like it impacts before it becomes clear that his sword literally absorbed it.]

Is that all? Don't hold back!

[He can adsorb the magical attacks? That is quite an interesting blade. Well, he should test it as much as possible, after all. The man must be strong, even if he is arrogant pot meet kettle. The dragon disappears behind him as he glows again.]

I'll switch Personas and try different attacks. I leave it to you, Genbu.

[The dragon is replaced by a giant turtle that hovers above him.]

Go.

[The head and tail move upwards as it seems to be silently calling upon something. The ground begins to shake violently before pieces of rock separate from the ground, reforming into a gigantic, large rock above the other and falling at an increased speed towards him.]

[Oooh, what is that? These are like... chimeras? Or something different? Guren grips his blade, a grin forming onto his face as the ground shakes. He can't exactly swallow rocks with his sword, but what he can do is—

Slice them apart. A kanata shouldn't be able to do that, but his is emanating some kind of energy. A dark energy, from all of him. He draws his sword across in rapid swipes, and the remaining pieces of boulder crash to the sides.]

What are those things you're using? You can control them?
