This is Lt. Colonel Guren Ichinose of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. I don't expect that to mean anything to any of you, but if it can make anyone take me a little more seriously, then I'll take it.

I'm sure you all saw the illustration of those apparent shadow monsters. If there are dangers, it means we should be ready for them, and somehow I've run into a surprising few people who have enough experience in combat. Some of them don't have any at all.

Would any of you be interested in learning how to fight? To defend yourselves? What about the capable out there— are you willing to teach, or spar to improve yourselves? Let me know, and I can set something up for regular practicing.

(OOC: Basically, I thought it might be fun to encourage more random CR with both characters who would like to learn how to fight, and characters who already know how and are willing to teach or spar! If there's enough interest, I can throw up an ooc post with match up sort of things that can provide a semi-regular chance for new CR (via threading or handwaving). Let me know in your tag, or via PM if your character won't tag the post!

Edit: I put up an ooc sign up! Please remember to sign up there if you'd like your character to be included in some fighting (and friendship) styled pair ups!)

If you're not against it, I'll put you in as a maybe. Once I ask a few more questions I can decide who would be a good teacher or not. Spars always help, too.

From what Dave was saying, they weren't acting in any aggressive way like that. Swords apparently don't work against them, either, so I doubt standard combat would. But if things like that exist out there, there's no saying what else does, too.

I have a few centuries of experience with different blades. Not that that officially qualifies me to teach anyone but apparently that's considered a long time
Either way, are you sure it's a good idea to teach people who don't know anything about fighting?

And anyway, I don't see why it would be a bad thing. People who don't know how to protect themselves or others but are interested in it; they deserve the chance to learn.

Neither, technically. We're looking to kill vampires, but they're so above human strength that we can't do it without using demons. We found a way to use them in our weapons. Like a deal, I guess.

Teaching doesn't necessarily mean you have to wield the same weapons or even be stronger than your opponent. There's plenty you can offer, if you're willing.

Hammers are a pretty unique weapon. What would you say your strengths are?

The shadow monsters can't be attacked physically. My sword did nothing, like they weren't even physically there. But they sure got a hold of us.

That said, people learning to defend themselves in general sounds like a great idea. I'd be happy to help out, if you need it.

Yeah, that's what I heard. My sword isn't a normal sword by any means, but there's a chance that won't mean a thing.

Still, it's what you said last that's important. People who want to learn to defend themselves should have the option here. It's a fighting chance. Are you looking to teach? Spar? You might be surprised what you could learn from someone else, too.

Whatever it is, I'd appreciate it.

I know how to fight and I'm willing to spar. Personally, I prefer longer range fights. But I don't know how useful my way is going to be for anybody else.

I rely heavily on my quirk (power). I can generate ice and fire.

[Is it fair to assume "kid" when he met only one?? No, but he does anyway.]

You'd be surprised how much those with different weapons or fighting styles can help one another. If I can stick you with someone else long range for a spar, I will, but it might put you both on your toes if I put a long range fighter against someone who's better at short range. It's a little more real.

That said, do you still only want to spar, or would you consider teaching?

And since it looks like Estelle already explained orbal arts, I do use those too, but it wouldn't make much difference for this. I'm pretty sure the only orbments here are the ones she and I brought with us.

I'll tell you the same thing I'm telling everyone else. Your fighting style being different isn't such a bad thing. It could help, and you could provide a new perspective on things for someone else. Including those orbal arts of yours.

I would be available to teach others how to use a sword or a gun. However obtaining either would be a challenge in itself.

I've met people also from Japan who said the same thing. Nothing is going to add up here, so just accept it for what it is.

Still... you know how to wield those but you don't have either with you? Did you stop using them?
