[USER: #A5211F]
This is Lt. Colonel Guren Ichinose of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. I don't expect that to mean anything to any of you, but if it can make anyone take me a little more seriously, then I'll take it.
I'm sure you all saw the illustration of those apparent shadow monsters. If there are dangers, it means we should be ready for them, and somehow I've run into a surprising few people who have enough experience in combat. Some of them don't have any at all.
Would any of you be interested in learning how to fight? To defend yourselves? What about the capable out there— are you willing to teach, or spar to improve yourselves? Let me know, and I can set something up for regular practicing.
That's all.
(OOC:Basically, I thought it might be fun to encourage more random CR with both characters who would like to learn how to fight, and characters who already know how and are willing to teach or spar! If there's enough interest, I can throw up an ooc post with match up sort of things that can provide a semi-regular chance for new CR (via threading or handwaving). Let me know in your tag, or via PM if your character won't tag the post!
Edit: I put up an ooc sign up! Please remember to sign up there if you'd like your character to be included in some fighting (and friendship) styled pair ups!)

You had to have run into plenty of people by now, but the definition of who your friends are is up to you. So, did you make any?
no subject
In that case, yes. Did you?
no subject
[Lame... but also a cop out for admitting anyone else is his friend. The question wasn't meant to be turned on him.]
Keep those people close. Whatever it is we're dealing with here, friends will always put you at an advantage. Protect each other and live for each other. As long as we have that, nothing else stands a chance.
no subject
dextera didn’t actually think that guren would up and admit to being friends with him, and he finds himself shying away from the laptop for a moment. ]
You sound confident in that. Thank you for the lesson... sir.
[ this time, the joke comes right across. ]
no subject
[Haha... the joke was good. It's a good sign, he thinks. It's also the only time he'll admit they're friends (or one of very few), so treasure it well.]
no subject
...but I’ve been told that friends aren’t supposed to fight each other.
no subject
A recent scene comes to mind immediately. Thrown punches, the rest of his friends unconscious, Shinya giving him that same pathetic look begging for answers. He takes a little longer to reply.]
It's fine if it's nothing serious like trying to kill each other. Friends who fight and work it out can grow a stronger bond than those who never fight at all.
You've really never had a friend?
no subject
I don’t remember. Maybe... I have. It feels like there was someone important to me.
no subject
Do you have trouble with your memory?
no subject
Yes. I can’t tell you much about myself because of it.
no subject
Don't worry about that. We're in the now, so you can focus on making new memories. Whether you want to try to get your old ones back, friends can support you with something like that.
no subject
Thank you.
[ he still wants his memories back to understand his sin... but both in his world and this one, there are things he’s seen that he doesn’t want to take for granted. ]
no subject
Anyway, I think I've got a way you can help me out with this. It won't involve fighting, but I'll tell you in a few days once I've figured it all out.
[Changing the topic from a difficult one seems like the fair thing to do, and also he was wanting to bring this up.]
no subject
...but can you give me a hint?
no subject
no subject
Is that really a compliment?
no subject
[He read that raw fish eating bones thing...now that he has a hex to connect it with.]
no subject
You saw that?
[ he realizes that it’s all public, but maybe he didn’t realize that putting his name out there would make everyone be able to just... know that he eats like a gremlin. ]
no subject
[And now that it's not some rando, he's concerned? Don't eat raw fish like that?]
At least put it over a fire first next time. That's what I did.
no subject
[ as everyone knows, there are only two states of food: RAW and CHARRED. ]
no subject
Do you even know how to cook? I didn't say chuck it in with the logs.
no subject
It’s easier to eat it raw.
no subject
You're going to make yourself sick. Next time you want to eat one, let me show you how to do it. It doesn't make the flavor any better, but the texture is easier to deal with.
no subject
Are you sure you’re not just burning it? What’s the difference?
no subject
I know the difference between cooked and burnt! Who would burn food?! Ugh. It's the amount of time you spend. You keep it in just long enough to make the meat good to eat, but not hard like a rock. Normally you'd have color or flavor to go off of, but here it's just time.
