This is Lt. Colonel Guren Ichinose of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. I don't expect that to mean anything to any of you, but if it can make anyone take me a little more seriously, then I'll take it.

I'm sure you all saw the illustration of those apparent shadow monsters. If there are dangers, it means we should be ready for them, and somehow I've run into a surprising few people who have enough experience in combat. Some of them don't have any at all.

Would any of you be interested in learning how to fight? To defend yourselves? What about the capable out there— are you willing to teach, or spar to improve yourselves? Let me know, and I can set something up for regular practicing.

(OOC: Basically, I thought it might be fun to encourage more random CR with both characters who would like to learn how to fight, and characters who already know how and are willing to teach or spar! If there's enough interest, I can throw up an ooc post with match up sort of things that can provide a semi-regular chance for new CR (via threading or handwaving). Let me know in your tag, or via PM if your character won't tag the post!

Edit: I put up an ooc sign up! Please remember to sign up there if you'd like your character to be included in some fighting (and friendship) styled pair ups!)

No matter what Guren says, he's actually incredibly shy when it comes to this sort of thing. He sees the words in writing, and he's so glad they're not spoken, but that doesn't make it any easier right now. He lets out a noise somewhere between an irritated huff and something a lot more surprised, turning to look in the opposite direction and trying to cover it by rubbing at his own head.]

There's nothing incredible about it. Cut it out.

[Don't look at him like that and type these things... He's still refusing to look back, now? This means he's won the conversation if Dextera is mute, right. He wins, he's free of embarrassment.]

[ no! he turned away!!

even if dextera types, he can't make guren look. despite the depressing topic they were discussing only seconds ago, guren's shyness serves to counteract the mood that was threatening to settle over them—it seems he'll get his wish, and they won't part on too gloomy a note after all. ]

Ah—

[ ...after a pause, he closes his laptop. for now, guren is safe, although now he has to live with the knowledge that dextera finds inspiration in his conviction. gross. ]

[Gross...!!!

He hears the soft click of the laptop shutting after that little breath of a voice, and that's when he decides to look back. He's frowning just a little bit, but it's no actual sour mood. That much is clear. He moves now, getting up to his feet and stretching again and stifling a yawn.]

I've got a kid to go fight. [That's what he announces now, not touching on that topic from before at all, since he won that conversation. Definitely.] Then maybe I'll try to get some more sleep.

[That he desperately needs... Hm, actually, is Dextera even tired? Guren glances back at him, both hands now on his hips.] You should probably get some, too.

[ wait no don't fight a kid—and now it's too late to stop him. guren has already moved on to nagging him about sleep, and... it's true that dextera probably should. he sleeps sparsely, since his body doesn't let him rest for long.

...or maybe he'll keep refreshing the forum! who knows! he's weak to his own desires. chances are he'll worry about guren's safety as long as he's still up, so it might be best to put himself to bed after all.

hesitantly, he nods, and stands because it feels weird to sit on the floor and look up at guren, even if he's leaving now. ]

[ He’s already tall enough while they’re both standing, right? But good, promised sleep is good. It’s true that the ending note is a lot better than when they’d started. He’d been hoping for that, but some turns near the end put it out of his control. Still, they’ve ended with this, and it’s a bit of a relief. ]

Catch you later. [ He raisss a hand like a goodbye wave before he begins to move towards the door to leave. Now, Dex has his hex code. He can contact him whenever. Guren hopes he remembers, since he’s not going to remind him. ]
