This is Lt. Colonel Guren Ichinose of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. I don't expect that to mean anything to any of you, but if it can make anyone take me a little more seriously, then I'll take it.

I'm sure you all saw the illustration of those apparent shadow monsters. If there are dangers, it means we should be ready for them, and somehow I've run into a surprising few people who have enough experience in combat. Some of them don't have any at all.

Would any of you be interested in learning how to fight? To defend yourselves? What about the capable out there— are you willing to teach, or spar to improve yourselves? Let me know, and I can set something up for regular practicing.

(OOC: Basically, I thought it might be fun to encourage more random CR with both characters who would like to learn how to fight, and characters who already know how and are willing to teach or spar! If there's enough interest, I can throw up an ooc post with match up sort of things that can provide a semi-regular chance for new CR (via threading or handwaving). Let me know in your tag, or via PM if your character won't tag the post!

Edit: I put up an ooc sign up! Please remember to sign up there if you'd like your character to be included in some fighting (and friendship) styled pair ups!)

I can handle it. Most of it's a bunch of kids wanting to better themselves. I haven't run into any bloodsuckers here, but I know how to gauge skill, too.

Maybe you should change the name of your army.

[ guren is right that there are an awful lot of teens here! dextera is worried about them in his own way, but maybe not as much as he should be as long as they’re just abstract handles without faces. ]

Haha. I'm not in charge of it, so I can't. The Moon Demon Company is mine— you don't think it sounds cool?

[You know, he thought talking lightly would cheer him up a little about how his demon self murdered most of this group, but thinking on it just makes him quiet. Thankfully, that doesn't translate over text.]

It was named after a five man battle formation. I wouldn't say I named it.

You should try to make it a little clearer. Maybe leave out the demon part... why not mention the vampires?

Well, it’s already part of the vampire annihilation squad. That’s clear enough, isn’t it? In the end, some branch family kid like me wouldn’t get to rename anything, anyway.

[ hmm... this isn't the first time that guren has mentioned being a part of a branch family, but dextera isn't sure exactly what that entails. it also, however, seems like something that shouldn't be discussed on a completely public forum with the same gravity they discussed the difference between cooked and burned. ]

If you make a company here, you can name it without anyone pulling rank. Though I don't know what this place would do with an army.

Technically, yeah. But you’re right. An army is too organized right now. I don’t want to worry about having to enforce any laws or rules with a bunch of kids and young adults who didn’t sign up for it. The numbers would be too scarce and I don’t want to worry about it.

Yeah. Where I’m from, almost all of the adults in the world died of a virus about eight years ago, so I’m used to everyone being around my age or younger, but it’s still tiring. I don’t even know if I’ve met someone older than me here.

[ He’s only 24? It depends how old Dextera is, he guesses. Maybe one or two others he saw, too... ]

[ that's... weird? that's weird. dextera caused the apocalypse and it's still strange to hear that something like that happened—it's enough that he forgets to be distraught about his own guilt. ]

I'm not sure if I am. I think we must be close.

[ But If Dex caused the apocalypse and Guren caused the apocalypse, then who’s flying the plane?? ]

Seems like it. I’m 24, so just go with something like that.

I'll be 25 if you want me to be older.

With the kinds of faces you make, you’re definitely younger.

I’m about to go meet someone in a little while. I’ll stop by to see you after.

[ Why?? He doesn’t say why or ask he just decides this?? ]

[ what's wrong with his fac—oh ok guren's coming over. he accepts this, and he doesn't even think to ask why because that's just how he rolls. guren will explain when he gets here... dextera supposes... ]

All right. I don't think I'm going to be anywhere else.

Good. It looks like my laptop won’t work outside the house, so you’ll have to use your own or deal with it again.

[ He’s coming to ask if he can rly kill him, ]

[ cool! that's not at all what dextera wants to talk about but he innocently doesn't realize he has no choice here. ]

We'll figure something out. I can use your hand again if I need to.

That’s right. I shouldn’t take over two hours or that shady guy down there is bad news. But I should be fine. See you soon.

[ He Just leaves it at that?? Doesn’t wait for response or questioning? He’s just meeting someone he can most likely fight it’s fine.

At least he makes it to Dextera’s house with plenty of time to spare, knocking on the door like the polite dude he is. ]

Hey, Dex. It’s me. [ open up let him in ]

[ dex... a nickname of a nickname! it's not unwelcome, but it does sound strange. he almost doesn't recognize it as a call for him until he remembers that guren said he was coming—this is proof that he's alive, which is good. dextera doesn't have to enact revenge or anything.

he opens the door, looking much more settled than the last time guren saw him. the house suits him just fine, as do the people in it. no one expects anything of him... and noctis' bird is a friend. ]

[ He doesn’t have a scratch on him, either! Even if he did before, when he asked the guy to have his weird dragon attack him, his demon would have healed it anyway.

Once the door opens, Guren immediately gives Dex a once over to check that he’s not like, dying, and then helps himself to stepping inside. ] Looks a little more lived in, now. You have other people who stay here with you?

[ dextera is checking him, too. even without knowing what went down with guren's mysterious new friend, the threat of death is enough for dextera to look him over... but he, too, seems just peachy keen.

he nods, and holds up two fingers—then hesitates, but rather than holding up four, he holds up another two on his other hand. joshua and noctis' friends don't live here... really... but... it can be lively. ]
