This is Lt. Colonel Guren Ichinose of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. I don't expect that to mean anything to any of you, but if it can make anyone take me a little more seriously, then I'll take it.

I'm sure you all saw the illustration of those apparent shadow monsters. If there are dangers, it means we should be ready for them, and somehow I've run into a surprising few people who have enough experience in combat. Some of them don't have any at all.

Would any of you be interested in learning how to fight? To defend yourselves? What about the capable out there— are you willing to teach, or spar to improve yourselves? Let me know, and I can set something up for regular practicing.

(OOC: Basically, I thought it might be fun to encourage more random CR with both characters who would like to learn how to fight, and characters who already know how and are willing to teach or spar! If there's enough interest, I can throw up an ooc post with match up sort of things that can provide a semi-regular chance for new CR (via threading or handwaving). Let me know in your tag, or via PM if your character won't tag the post!

Edit: I put up an ooc sign up! Please remember to sign up there if you'd like your character to be included in some fighting (and friendship) styled pair ups!)

Let's go into the forest, but not too deep. Closer to Flavo side. Tonight, when the computers read about 10pm.

I didn't get to ask earlier but vampires? You have those, too?

[swordfucker]

Yeah. Way too many of them. Does that mean you do, too?

[inheritance]

If we do, we're not aware of it! So far the only vampires I can think of are in fiction.

I meant "too" because you already have demons in your world. Any relation between the two?

[swordfucker]

Yes and no. It's possible for a vampire to turn into a demon.

If you have them in fiction, they must exist in your world somewhere. They may be in hiding. Before the catastrophe, they didn't care about the affairs of humans.

So they're separate species altogether?

That's sort of ominous. What was the catastrophe?

[swordfucker]

Yeah.

A virus that wiped out 90% of the human population. After that, the Horsemen of the Apocalypse began to appear. They're monsters that seek out humans to kill them. Since humans are like livestock to vampires, they had to care about so few remaining. They began trying to gather up the children who weren't affected by the virus, keeping them captive to keep them safe from the horsemen but available for them like walking blood bags.

[Wow, that's even worse than what he'd expected.]

That's horrible! What happened to the Horsemen of the Apocalypse? Were they stopped?

What the vampires are doing to the children isn't right either.

[swordfucker]

[Yeah it's a rough time!!]

No. No matter how many are killed, they keep appearing. The trumpets of the apocalypse won't stop sounding to summon them.

You're right. But that's why we're all trying to regain what we can.

[inheritance]

They come back after they've been killed???

[It's like boss monster respawns in an MMORPG, but in real life....respawns that no one actually wants.]

I'm sorry about what happened to your world, Ichinose-san.

New ones appear, more like.

You don't have to apologize, anyway. You wanted to know. That's all. It's been 8 years.

[So "he's over it"... or that's the impression he wants to leave.]

I can't decide if that's worse or not. Either way it's bad news. What was that about the trumpets, though?

8 years isn't that long ago. [For a disaster of that scale, especially.] How have the humans been holding up?

[swordfucker]

[The trumpets... That's a long discussion he doesn't feel like he needs to or should have here, so he pointedly ignores the question.]

Humans are stronger than everyone is willing to admit. We may be weaker than monsters and vampires without cursed gear, but our willpower lets us survive despite that.

[inheritance]

That's good...it's reassuring to know that they're still fighting even after everything.
