The bogeyman that was hiding in town has finally been defeated, but it was at the cost of three lives. Dave, John and Dextera. I couldn't save them. I'm sorry.

Okuyasu and Asuka are badly injured, but are currently being treated for it. [He is too? He's bleeding all over his laptop, but it's fine.]

Dextera's body changed into something else, but the other two are still remaining. I think they both have family here, or something close. You can contact me and I'll tell you where they are, so you can arrange a burial or whatever you think is best.

I take full responsibility for this. There's still going to be a defense force meeting at the beginning of next month, so we can talk about it then. I know there could still be people missing from the werewolf thing, too, so keep your eyes open for them, alive or otherwise. If you have questions, I'll try to answer them.

[Of course, after this, he'll be in his room at his laptop, so people are free to come bother him. He's covered in blood, most notably a stab wound straight through his chest at the heart, and it looks like he's only partially been able to deal with that. He's not bleeding out as quickly? But his healing isn't working. He's only just barely come back to consciousness from Mahiru taking over.]

You're not a monster. [This time, the words are said much more fiercely. Izuku places his hands on Guren's shoulders, careful not to aggravate any of the wounds as he does so.

His eyes water and spill over again as he leans into his teacher's space and stares him right in the eyes.]

No offense, sensei, but that's the stupidest thing you've ever said to me. How can you tell me not to worry about you when you're injured like this? [And that's without going into the emotional pain Guren must be feeling along with all of this, too.] I care about you. Of course I'm going to worry.

[Guren is quiet to all of that, which is conceding in a way. He doesn't know what to say. He can't say anything that Izuku would want to hear. Instead, he's silent like this, lifting one of his hands to rest on the top of Izuku's head. Affectionate even in how tired and nearly-dead he is. Sorrowful, too.

He just doesn't take death of comrades well. He never has.]

[The familiar touch to his head is what makes Izuku crumple, in the end. Through the months, and all the time they've spent together, Izuku's come to realize this is Guren's way of showing affection. For him to be doing this, even when he's so down...

Izuku drops the towel into the bucket and gingerly circles his arms around his teacher, not caring if he gets blood on his clothes. It doesn't seem important just now. The hug might surprise Guren, considering Izuku's never initiated something like this before.]

I'm...I'm going to stay with you. Until things... get better. Is that okay? [Izuku says, voice wobbly and thick with tears. Let me take care of you this time, he doesn't have to say.]

Yeah. I could use the help.

[He admits that much, at least, ruffling his hair just slightly before he lets his tired hand slip away and move to return that hug loosely, instead. Izuku hugging him... He's very aware of how surprising it is. He's shocked, but too tired to let it show on his face, and he hopes he's handling this okay.

He already screwed everything else up.]

[And that's that. Hearing Guren admit that he needs the help is all the confirmation that he was looking for, and the shock of getting it is quickly swallowed by a flash of grief. Part of him is happy that Guren's letting him in like this, but...the cost of it is too great, Izuku thinks.]

We're family. Looking out for each other is what family does. [Though Guren was the first to say this, and Izuku's repeated it back to him before, this time it really feels like the trust goes both ways.

Izuku finally pulls away, scooting back just a little so he can drag the bucket closer again.]

I'm almost done. You should rest after I've bandaged you up.

People are still messaging me.

[It was nice to hear the word "family" used back at him, but he's stuck on so much else to listen completely. He'll let Izuku help him with his clear wounds that he could die from, if not assisted, but sleeping? He can go without sleep.

That's how he thinks, anyway.]

I can rest after that.

[The thing is, Izuku knows that Guren and himself are pretty evenly matched when it comes to stubbornness. Protesting isn't going to get him anywhere, and only waste more time--time that Guren could be using to respond to the messages before he rests.

Izuku purses his lips slightly, just a bit suspicious even as he begins to wrap the bandages around Guren's injuries.] You promise you'll rest after you finish that?

[Hmmm, the way that he stares blankly ahead is probably fine, right?]

Sure.

[Izuku's not at all convinced here, but all he can do is let out a tiny sigh. At least he's done bandaging the injuries now?

He waits a beat or two before piping up again, quietly--]

Are you feeling hungry at all?

...Not really.

[If he's being honest. But he looks to Izuku.]

Don't worry. I'll eat eventually. You can help me get it later, if you're not busy.

[He figured as much. At least Guren's thinking about eating later--that's more than Izuku would have expected.]

Okay, I will. Do you think your housemates will mind if I sleep on the couch?

[He's gonna stay here with Guren anyway, but it's probably polite to at least... ask. Or pretend to.]

Probably not. Yata might even make you food.

[He's sweet like that. Guren isn't going to try to chase Izuku away at all. Not this time.]
