Okay, so, a couple of things.

First off, probably useful for people to know right now: there's silver in them there hills. Forest, I mean. There's silver in the woods and you really have to look for it because it's buried, but it's out there. I found a ring in a chest, and I have a feeling given this place it's not the only one out there.

Second off is magic. I keep seeing people on the forum offering to use their talents to help make things better for everybody around here, so I guess I figure I should throw my figurative hat into the ring on that one, too. I was telling a guy recently that my magic is kind of like clay, and the spells I can do are like molds for it. Just because I've got molds for hearts, stars, and horseshoes right now doesn't mean I can't someday figure out how to make clovers and blue moons, too. It's just...working out how to do it, the first time.

Example: I've overheard enough people complaining about there not being any hair gel around that I went and figured out how to simulate it with magic. I don't need it myself but hey, trade me a favor and I'll do your hair for you, if it means that much to you. I'm a helper.

But yeah, I figure if I can do that, then maybe I can do other stuff, too. Things people think the town needs — above and beyond just putting on music for the local prom, I mean. So I'm taking ideas, if you've got them. I can't make any promises, but...you know, I want to help. Even if it's just really random, stupid little conveniences. Like maybe I can enchant a bathtub to heat the water you put in it or something, I don't know. I'm good at tricks like that, it's kind of what I do.

Third thing, and this is kind of out there but I just wanted to see if anybody else has been having thoughts like this too. Does it ever seem as though this town is, like...some kind of entity in its own right? Like a thing with a will of its own?

That's right. That one. I had to keep from eating food I wasn't supposed to, and then this bowl of candy showed up right in my house. I never had a chance!

I wouldn't make something like that up! They couldn't see me at all.

In all seriousness body shyness was lost the first few months of training to be a soldier. It's just skin, at the end of the day, and getting distracted by nudity is a great way to lose a partner in the field when you're trying to patch them up.

Well, let's figure this out mathematically.

How many hours a day do you sleep, and how long does it take you to hit on someone, in minutes?

...Did you seriously just suggest that if you had a partner bleeding out on the ground next to you, there was EVER a chance you might stop somewhere in the middle of trying to treat their injuries and take a minute to CHECK THEM OUT?

I sleep 9 or 10 hours because I get bored and just go to bed.

But I don't know how long it takes me to hit on someone. It depends on how quickly they tell me to go away.

Okay, so let's figure it takes you about ten minutes, for easy math.

There's 168 hours in a week. If you sleep 9.5 of them every day, that's 66.5 hours you spend asleep, which you wouldn't be using to hit on someone, which means you're awake for 101.5. So let's call it 100, again just to be easy.

60 minutes in an hour times 100 hours is 6,000 minutes you could've spent hitting on someone, divided by ten minutes per person equals 600 opportunities to hit on someone that you missed.

I'm pretty sure the population of this place is less than 100, so again let's assume that there's 100 total people here, half of whom are probably girls. That's 50 possible people you could've hit on.

So in the whole course of the week, you missed out on hitting on every girl in this place twelve times apiece.

See! 600 missed opportunities because I ate a handful of candy when I didn't even mean to do it! And since I could have tried 12 times with each girl, my chances of wearing one of them down would have been even better.

As one of the fifty girls in question I'd like to say it's probably for the best that you didn't because I would've set you on fire after like, three.

I'd call myself hard to kidnap, for instance. But I mean that purely in the sense that someone would have an extremely difficult time sneaking up on me with a chloroform rag or putting a bag over my head.

But, given how we seem to be dealing with something that's taking people from different worlds entirely, we can safely discount that kind of modus operandi. So, if we assume there's something magical or supernatural or whatever you want to call it behind bringing us here - would you call yourself well protected against something like that?

Ohh I could go for a hot bath right now. It's been so long. What if I forget what hot springs even feel like? That would be a tragedy.

This town definitely has a strange sort of aura to it, though. I'm not sure I'd call it having a will of its own, but it's definitely alive in some way. Then again, someone could argue that any place is alive if it's rooted in the natural world, as I assume this place is. It has the elements, plants and animals, and weather, so it isn't as if it's frozen. It feels more incomplete to me than anything. Like parts of it are frozen. But then once they gain color, and I admit, I still don't understand how that works, then they exist as they should.

On a much more serious note, I hadn't considered that last possibility - of the town itself being an entity. When I first got here I would have called you mad, but now, I'm not so sure.

If you could enchant the bathtubs to do that, I think that would help a lot! For other suggestions... do you think you could get the buckets to fill up with water from the well when it's needed somehow?

I think you're definitely right about the town. The forest seems to be sentient, so I don't see why the town wouldn't be the same.

Oh, right, silly me. Nothing more attractive than heavy sedation while in critical condition. Really gets the motor going.

I would call myself hard to kidnap in terms of "the guy who had custody of me before this wasn't really the type to want to share".

So yeah, I would say I was very well-protected against that kind of thing. Honestly I'm kind of surprised he hasn't shown up yet to drag me back.
