Okay, so, a couple of things.
First off, probably useful for people to know right now: there's silver in them there hills. Forest, I mean. There's silver in the woods and you really have to look for it because it's buried, but it's out there. I found a ring in a chest, and I have a feeling given this place it's not the only one out there.
Second off is magic. I keep seeing people on the forum offering to use their talents to help make things better for everybody around here, so I guess I figure I should throw my figurative hat into the ring on that one, too. I was telling a guy recently that my magic is kind of like clay, and the spells I can do are like molds for it. Just because I've got molds for hearts, stars, and horseshoes right now doesn't mean I can't someday figure out how to make clovers and blue moons, too. It's just...working out how to do it, the first time.
Example: I've overheard enough people complaining about there not being any hair gel around that I went and figured out how to simulate it with magic. I don't need it myself but hey, trade me a favor and I'll do your hair for you, if it means that much to you. I'm a helper.
But yeah, I figure if I can do that, then maybe I can do other stuff, too. Things people think the town needs — above and beyond just putting on music for the local prom, I mean. So I'm taking ideas, if you've got them. I can't make any promises, but...you know, I want to help. Even if it's just really random, stupid little conveniences. Like maybe I can enchant a bathtub to heat the water you put in it or something, I don't know. I'm good at tricks like that, it's kind of what I do.
Third thing, and this is kind of out there but I just wanted to see if anybody else has been having thoughts like this too. Does it ever seem as though this town is, like...some kind of entity in its own right? Like a thing with a will of its own?

It probably wouldn't take me that long to figure out, though. The problem is it'll just be leather, I think. Like, it's not just going to be a catch-all "fix beat-up things" spell, it's going to be specifically "repair leather".
I'm saying that so that you're absolutely sure you're asking for the right thing, because if it turns out you're like oh by the way can you fix this hole in my socks while you're at it, then you're going to be disappointed.

No, most of my uniform is made of some kind of leather. I can bring it over if you want to take a look? That way there won’t be any disappointing surprises.

I've traded thoughts with a few people about this, and while we can't really prove anything, I do think there's merit to that argument. There were artifacts in my world that have the power to react to thoughts and desires, and a lot of what we've seen feels more to me like something is reacting to us and our minds than it's some individual hiding in the corner and controlling all of this. I'm not going to dismiss any possibilities yet, given how little we still know, but I'm not convinced that #FFFFFF is actually a person.
no subject
So you're saying that #FFFFFF is less of an individual and more of a FFFFFForce?

Minato and I were talking - a lot of the stuff we've encountered here seems tailored to us, personally. And the monsters always seem to be something at least one person recognizes, like it's taking cues from us on what appears here. Things we know, things we think about. That feels to me like something reacting to what we put into it (figuratively, obviously not intentionally of us), rather than someone pulling strings behind the scenes and making deliberate decisions about what appears here.

also you found a ring in a chest??? sounds like treasure hunting time to me!!

It took me forever to find it, too. I just kept going out there feeling like I was supposed to be finding something and I could never figure out what or where it was.

Like it's a living breathing creature? Or, like, you talking more like a magical thing, like maybe the town is filled with some big ghost or spirit or something inhabiting it?
no subject
Like you know how in comic books the heroes will get "chosen by the artifact of power" or whatever to be the hero? Something more like that. Like it's not...ALIVE, exactly, but it's got a will somehow.

[ Though as one of the other prom performers, his opinion on the matter might be stronger than most. ]
... More shampoo would help, too.

At this rate I should just open up a magical hair salon, I guess. Cut, color, wash, and style.

Ohh I could go for a hot bath right now. It's been so long. What if I forget what hot springs even feel like? That would be a tragedy.
[He's being dramatic. Probably.]
This town definitely has a strange sort of aura to it, though. I'm not sure I'd call it having a will of its own, but it's definitely alive in some way. Then again, someone could argue that any place is alive if it's rooted in the natural world, as I assume this place is. It has the elements, plants and animals, and weather, so it isn't as if it's frozen. It feels more incomplete to me than anything. Like parts of it are frozen. But then once they gain color, and I admit, I still don't understand how that works, then they exist as they should.

On a much more serious note, I hadn't considered that last possibility - of the town itself being an entity. When I first got here I would have called you mad, but now, I'm not so sure.
no subject
You sound like you've had some kind of experience with the town being autonomous to back that up.

I think you're definitely right about the town. The forest seems to be sentient, so I don't see why the town wouldn't be the same.
no subject
You think there's some kind of tension there? Like, bad things in the forest, good things in the town? Some kind of cold war standoff?

If anyone needs it, you're welcome to conserve your energy and send them my way.

I'm kidding. You're right that it'd probably be most helpful to do things that we DON'T have alternative means of doing. Better use of resources, and whatever.

I have actually. You're new here, right? The town's done weird things ever since we first arrived here. [And by "we" he means the first group of people that were here.]
