Okay, hit me if that's a stupid question or somebody's asked this before, but has anybody tried to make some sort of stairs or a ladder into that well by now? With the frequency we have people struggling to get out of it I'm starting to think making a permanent climbing help would make sense. (Maybe also something like a 'first arrival bus stop hut' with blankets and a poster with FAQ while we're at it.)

I was wondering if anyone'd tried it before, too. It would make arriving here a less of a physical struggle.

You know, I was asking around a while back about what city improvements people thought we needed around here and I think you just hit on the big winner.

Clearly I should enchant a fucking elevator and drop it into the well.

Right? I've been thinking that something like a rope ladder or two would be plenty enough! We could even add a rope and a bell on the upper end so that anybody who can't climb the ladders for any reason can just call for help by ringing it!

Okay, one, that was a figurative "toss". Figure of speech, my man.

Two, what happens if somebody arrives who can't climb stairs?

Admittedly, I've been avoiding the well. I don't exactly mesh with water. People have been kind enough to bring water here for me.

But, I agree. If not some kind of device, maybe we could install a bell or something, so our town's float-y people can go help whenever new people arrive?

Okay. Good. Sorry, I come from a place were you gotta make sure about stuff like that. At least one of my classmates would probably try to do something like that and call it a good idea and we're studying to be heroes for god's sake-! I've been thinking that we could make something like a long rope that's attached to some sort of alarm on the top of the well for such cases. Maybe something like a bell? All we need is a way to let whoever is in the well make some sort of signal that they're there and the people upside can come and help them.

Wait, hang on. You're STUDYING to be heroes? Like what, at a school?

A bell shouldn't be too hard to rig up, though. You wouldn't even need magic for that.

That's fair! We've all got things we're not that good with, so we got to just focus on what we're good at and how we can combine each other's strengths to make up for the small personal weaknesses! Are you no good with water at all or are it just big bodies of it or wells? Yep! That's exactly the idea! You got it in one go, pal! I think we have a couple of those, so it shouldn't be a problem even if they want to sleep and do other stuff too!

Yep? That's what U.A is for. It's the best school in the whole country if you wanna be a pro-hero in the future. U-huh. As uncomplicated and fool-proof as possible is the best, as our homeroom teacher likes to say. (Though I think he's just a tad bit lazy sometimes too.) Can you really use magic?

It's more just me disliking being wet in general. It's not something I'm afraid of, it's just a discomfort thing, so I'll usually avoid things that'll do that, if that makes sense.

That's probably our best bet, since they can also fill in the new people about what's going on instead of just a FAQ poster. I feel like that is really impersonal for the people who arrived, who are probably already scared.

Maybe we could set up... a welcoming committee? Of flying folk. Who rescue the people from the well.

I gotcha. I don't like getting soaked either, so I think I get where you're coming from. That's a good idea! I didn't think about the impersonal thing before, but you got a point! Getting some real people to share your worries with and ask for details will definitely feel better than just reading some generalized answers off a wall! I like how you're thinking about this! Thinking about others is real manly![Weird or not, they might just end up in team one of the welcome group now.]

i was thinking that earlier too. it's fine right now because it's warm but if it gets colder and people are stuck down there too long then it could be bad! especially since we don't have any doctors here.

i'm not sure a poster would be such a good idea though. wouldn't something like that make it all seem like a really elaborate prank?

What makes a pro-hero different from a regular hero? Does that mean you get to do it like it's your job or something?

You think? I figured that we could just sum up the most basic of questions like "food without color also doesn't have any taste" or "none of the people here is a local" like that and leave the more complicated one to in person answers, but if it's no good idea then we shouldn't. I think I saw somebody claim that they're a doctor not long ago, but you're right. It was already pretty cold back when I woke up in the well, I don't want to imagine what it will be like once it's winter!

I can create something. It'd be like Jack in the Beanstalk, I suppose, with part of the wall of the well turning into vines or something sturdier, which they can then use to climb up.

Flying, of course, is more convenient.

Ohhhh, I see! Do you need to eat books to use magic too? Magic doesn't exist where I'm from, only quirks, but I've met somebody who can use magic if she devours books here![Maribelle better forgive him that simplification.]

You pretty much got it in one go! Pro-heroes are licensed government employed emergency responders more or less! We do all the classic hero work like fighting villains and saving people, but we also help when there are accidents, natural disasters, cleaning up parks, do social work... The whole works! Getting our licenses means that there's a set of rules we'll adhere to and which sets our duties and responsibilities to an extent. It's also good for getting paid and things like hero insurances, since having to worry about collateral damages while fighting can be a real pain.

[Doing something like that is entirely out of the question right now. She might have teased him before this whole...acknowledging her crush thing. For now she'll try to just be normal!]

i think if i had found a random poster with answers i'd be more likely to believe someone was just screwing around with us. like, what is this, some kind of video game tutorial? an faq for a collaborative roleplay community i didn't sign up to be a part of?

it just seems suspiciously convenient, you know? i think having someone there to explain would be more reassuring!

That's actually an astonishingly good idea, and I'm amazed we haven't thought of it before!
