[Until she got home and it was just her and Shiho, she hadn't even realized that they'd been gone so long. Or well, she learned afterwards that Shiho did know but hadn't told any of them as she navigated them all home in a way that avoided everyone patrolling the harbour. Then Shiho told her when they were back and well, as much as she wanted to just go to sleep after everything she had to at least let everyone know they were fine.]

this is kaoru. me, shiho, midoriya-kun and ~~ei-chan~~ eijirou all made it back okay. i'm sorry if we worried anyone. i didn't think we'd be gone this long.

so anyway...there are monsters under the water too. and it turns out if you try to explore underwater the way we did when we went into the forest it does that creepy thing where it makes it so you can't see anything around you.

except there's no fog. because you don't get fog underwater! it just turns pitch black.

we ended up being kidnapped by these bootleg mermaids who don't understand that housework should be done regularly so they don't end up with a HUGE backlog of chores. i guess they did make it so we could breathe, but like, they're still kidnappers! and ugly! and terrible home-makers!

2/10 for hospitality, would not recommend for marriage.

anyway, we ended up back on the beach after we were finished and we have these neat pendants!

funny how this place keeps giving us clothing and accessories...but a lot of it is pretty ugly. if someone wore all of it together...i can't even imagine how that would look. it might be worse than the clothes we found in this place and i didn't realize that was even possible!

yeah. sorry. we really thought we'd be back sooner.

they're like mermaids...but also look more like frogs? they have these antennas and webbed hands and feet! they were really ugly and they couldn't talk.

bootleg mermaids. ugly ones. [Because that part is important. Because she wasn't sure they were mermaids at all.]

we were underwater and they just grabbed us.

So, ugly, fish-like creatures, then. Trust me, as far as I'm concerned, that's all the more reason to stay OUT of the water.

i was hoping to find out a little more than just, 'oh there are monsters down there' but at least people know...i guess.

What are mermaids, exactly? Did they try to hurt you?

Were there other monsters besides these mermaids? Did the mermaids actually have homes? Or structures of any kind? Was there any written word or did they speak to you? Or was it simply hand gestures? How did they give you the ability to breathe underwater?

Kaoru all of this happened and the first thing you worry about are their marriage potential??

Really? What WERE you hoping to find, exactly? Because "more monsters" would have been my top guess.

that's a lot of questions! let's see...

mermaids are creatures with a fish's tail and a beautiful woman's body! but these ones just had the shape of people and kind of looked like some kind of fish-frog thing.

i don't think they were really trying to hurt us. they just made us do their housework?

i hadn't seen any other monsters in the water, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were. we couldn't really see anything once we got underwater.

they lived in these huge caves! shiho said they were really, really deep underwater!

they just kind of...gestured? i'm not sure if they couldn't talk or if they were just being rude. they just showed us the stuff that needed doing and when we said we'd do it they left!

and i have no idea. magic i guess?

well, i guessed we'd find monsters. that's why i brought midoriya-kun and ei-chan with us.

i wanted to see if we could make it to the bottom of the water. shiho was apprenticed to a seafloor specialist so i thought maybe if we could get that deep then she could find some kind of information!

[If that sounds like a lie it is, at least partly. It was because Shiho was a psychometer and if they could get her to touch the sea floor she might be able to read something from it.

But, you know. Shiho's power is a secret.]

i'm glad we made it all back too. when we got separated i was really worried about the others.

We were gone for TWO DAYS. It didn't feel that long!!

[Okay, so maybe she was frustrated because they were all right there within her reach when the bubble popped and she still couldn't stop them from being separated or protect them but that wasn't exactly something she was going to put on the network.]

if they don't show any signs of changing this habit, i mean!

well, it wasn't like we could tell. since we couldn't see the sun or anything!

I see, we have creatures called hellions that can look different but I've never heard or seen anything like the mermaids you described.

What sort of housework? Scrubbing down algae from their cave walls and floor? [This is more of a rhetorical question.]

How long has someone lasted when underwater? How far out has someone gone?

So no structures other than the natural ones provided. Did they have furniture of any kind? Household items such as plates or silverware?

They left you after showing you what to do? Did you try to leave without cleaning?

Did they have light in the caves for you to see by or could you juse see when they gave you the ability to breathe underwater?

I haven't really thought about who I want to marry yet, but I guess as long as they don't turn out as notorious messy it'll be alright.

they don't exist where i'm from either, but i've seen them in storybooks and movies. there's a whole fairytale about a mermaid who fell in love with a prince and wished for legs!

they had silverware! me and midoriya-kun had to clean a whole pile of silver and do their laundry too! shiho said ei-chan had to weed a garden and feed the bootleg mermaid's pets.

...you know. it hadn't occurred to me to leave without cleaning.

[Because she's a Good Child and so was the entire group that ended up in this mess.]

now that you mention it, i didn't really question why we could see...there were just a lot of more pressing concerns.

there you go. no one wants to marry a slob on the level of those bootleg mermaids so we should clearly warn people about them.

Interesting. Do you know what their clothes were made of? What sort of plants they were growing or the pets they had?

You didn't even look out a window or the cave entrance to see if they were nearby making sure you did the chores?

Can you remember if they had lamps or perhaps plants that glowed in the dark?
