Once upon a time, there lived a young man in an azure district. While his family wanted for nothing in terms of wealth, the man's heart sought one most felt was beyond his reach. His heart's desire was a poor but comely man who hailed from the crimson district, and his beauty had already drawn several suitors from that same district to his side in the hopes of claiming his heart for their own.

The young man despaired, for he knew to approach his love whilst hailing from another color would be a fruitless effort indeed. Thankfully there was another, a true friend, a young woman of the brighter, sunnier district, who was there to offer her assistance.

Not really. I mean, I only found out a little while ago.

I can access Galra tech and stuff, like my sword, which can only happen if you've got Galra blood. And the resistance group I run with, the Blade of Marmora, is made up of Galra fighting the Empire to try to stop them.

So less super powers more secret society membership?

I guess it is kind of cool. The Blade has been fighting for a long time now, against all sorts of odds. I'm glad I get to fight with them, even if it meant leaving Voltron.

...huh. Well. That's unique as far as origin stories go. But hey, at least your best friend was involved. Also you clearly got the superpowers-backstory package.

I don't remember her. But my dad is human, and the knife was the only gift they ever gave me, so. It's the working theory.

That's nice. I mean it. You're a nice guy, Dave. I guess I'd like to believe that. But they're a complete team, all on their own. They're better off.

Maybe. I suppose if I live to see them again, it can't hurt to ask.

It's just the universe is definitely a higher priority than my feelings.
