I'm from Earth, I'm the captain of a starship called Atlas. I fly for a living.

A ship? Sounds like a waste of sails. Why sail through the sky when you can sail on water?

They do, because that's what makes them unique. Not all people fly on swords, this humble one cannot, but I do know those who can. Does that not happen in your world?

[ This is wild, he's not even going to point out that Atlas has no sails. It won't get him far, he now suspects. ]

It doesn't, it sounds amazing! What happens if there's a crash?

It does sound nice but that can be done on swords so this one isn't sure why a ship would be needed.

If there's a crash then whoever is responsible should own up!

No, this one doesn't think they would. But then I don't know of a time when it's happen.

They would probably fall down and not survive the impact maybe.

And it doesn't happen if you're on a starship. ;)

Maybe, but then people should be more careful with where they're flying. If it helps, the ones who do have trained for a long time.

Well, a lot of people are involved with the running of a starship, and there's usually nothing for it to run into between the stars.

What about other starships?

It sounds like a lot of work. Is it worth it?

[paladads]

We'd try and avoid smashing into each other, the ships are extremely large and no one wants that. Not even your enemies, usually.

So do those who fly on swords. And if they're an enemy then more fool them for being stupid.

Good. It's hard to imagine but if Shiro says it's worth it then this one will take that as the truth.

Have you tried congee before now?

I've tried something like it, yeah. My grandparents raised me, they were Japanese and ate more traditional meals. I didn't inherit their skill for cooking, though.

It would be something, but it would also take many many years of training.

Hmm cooking is okay, an equaliser when it comes to life. Everything needs to eat at some point and is something everything can agree on.

What kind of traditional meals?

Noodles were always my favourite, I could eat an entire pan of yakisoba as a kid. Datemaki were delicious too. I was a greedy little boy!
