so there's this hag old granny in the forest. the last time i met her she asked us riddles and if we answered it correctly we'd get to ask one question. and if we got it wrong we got punished. which is unfair. i know riddles are normal for fairytales but some of us are just really bad at riddles!
anyway. lan wangji and i went into the forest a couple of days ago to see if we could find her again. since it seems like if we focus on something we can usually find it.
and we did find her! and she answered one question from each of us and wouldn't answer anymore like a real cheapskate.
but according to her, mr. f is the town, which honestly makes that whole 'clean up the town' quest we got in the beginning really, really weird.
but also, those pages we've been getting? apparently, the people who have those pages in the book get to go home in the end. which also brings up some new questions but it also makes me feel like i deserve a refund for that stupid mirror i got from the wish quest. since if those people's pages weren't in the book then the mirror had been lying!
[And she doesn't want to think about the implications of that...where did those people go?]

I don't even have a page!
[That he knows of.]

or maybe you can write your own?
[She's actually concerned though. She doesn't want anyone to be stuck here!]

i'm the best!

Why did you say someday and not soon?
Someday could be in 50 years!

[Why is she like this.]

but if you're really worried it can be 60 year instead.

I don't care! I'm trying it anyway! I don't have enough words to be more specific.

good luck. remember to use protection.

This is Lan Wangji.
The pages were a reward for completing quest 60, which was to cut down a tree from the Wood.
It seems that either way one looks at the information we have been given, it is incomplete or some of it is incorrect. We have no way to know which part is incorrect. It would be a good thing to not discard either hopes or facts.

it's just frustrating. this whole time we thought at least the people who were gone were safe. but now that might not be true.
and i don't even know what this means for people who went home then came back...
no subject
You know better than most if returning was likely real or not. The rest, chances are one or both of the sources of information is incorrect, incomplete, or not fully understood.
Another riddle.

i hate riddles! [She's already complained about it but it's worth complaining again!] i'll just leave it to the smarter people to deal with it. i'm the muscle, not the brains.

honestly, tests are the worst. but being punished because i'm not smart enough to answer a riddle is also terrible.

Anyway, I'm still not convinced there isn't another way to return home. The lake in Flavo shows visions of our homeworlds, there's shells of people who wear clothes from our homeworlds, and some have returned. I think we're still missing a piece.
no subject
but she pretty much only answered our questions and didn't add anything else.
and she didn't say this, but unlike the other creatures in the forest she didn't just appear there. she's a being made of magic and she's been there for a very long time.
according to shiho anyway. and she's been an apprentice to an 'old lady living in little cottages in the middle of a forest' specialist.
we're definitely missing something. but...i'm not so sure about the lake in flavo. it's noy only showing my homeworld. it also seems to be showing a future that should already be changed.
[it had freaked her out to see it, but the more she thinks about it...and having gone back recently, she feels like it's...not possible for that terrible future to still happen.]

[ How the hell was that forgotten by-- hell, even the previous residents? The guy went out into the woods because of love to find the hen! Mythra feels like chucking a chair out her window. ]
It's showed only flashes of my own world, although it seemed to be things from the present. As far as I know, it hasn't shown anything of this world. I even tried throwing some of that ice into the cauldron for the sorcerer stone's quest a few months back; nothing happened.

i saw a lot of the past. but also there was this prediction where i'm from that's been changed but i've seen it there too. or, i think it is? i've never seen the prediction myself.
but it's true that i've never seen anything from here in there before...how does that ice work anyway?
no subject
[ BAM, roasted. ]
I don't know how the ice works, but it's served a nice purpose for checking in on our homeworlds. I know mine is still alive and kicking. [ Probably not for long, tho'. ]

definitely romantic love, and friendship. i did go in with big bro caramia but it's hard to say if that's familial love or deep friendship...
in the end, i think any kind of love probably counts.
it is useful for that.
is there reason to think your world isn't alive and kicking?
no subject
[ Damn just typing that out makes it sound so... so corny to her. But if some big romantic display is actually the key, then there's nothing either Pyra or Mythra can help on that front. ]
Things are pretty bad in my world, but it's still persisting. [ That's all she's going to say about that. ]

what kind of big romantic display? i feel like, if all kinds of love apply, then there have been a lot of those already. just not like, ridiculously big ones like having the entire town work together to put on a musical number to propose marriage.
[Or something.]

Speaking of, that hen story is ridiculous. The guy was an idiot, basically putting a spell over the guy he loved. That ain't right. Maybe the hen or the forest cursed him for forcing someone to love him back. If anything was "forgotten" way back then, it wasn't love, it was common decency.
[ As someone who had been spellbound by the flowers into thinking she loved another... waking up had been hell. Fuck that shit. ]
no subject
ISN'T IT THOUGH? like, it's one thing to impress your love by getting a magical chicken. i can't blame a guy for trying to impress. but a magical chicken that makes someone love him? that's awful.
and let's talk about that friend of his! what's with telling him about that legend as a way to help? couldn't she have suggested something else? like small thoughtful gifts? maybe writing a poem? a song???
