Question for anyone. Or for everyone I guess.
How sure are you that you're still alive? Back where you're from I mean.
Like on a scale from 1 to 10. Where 1 is "I definitely died" and 10 is "I'm definitely still alive" and everything in between.

[He's asked some folks, but the results so far are mixed. And Keith needs to figure out one way or another if this is just some weird unexpected afterlife, and he's at a solid 2.5 on his own scale so he's wondering.]

If this is an afterlife, I guess that'd change things.
But if it's not then that means there are people who've been dragged from their homes and trapped here. And they don't deserve that. No one deserves that. So I'm going to find a way to fight to get out of this place, get everyone back where they belong.

It seems terribly selfish to decide to play the hero, given that when you inevitably fail, it will be the rest of us left disappointed.

There's not much in life that comes with a guarantee that it won't fail. I'm going to act and fight, for myself. Even if it fails.
If someone winds up disappointed in that, I don't know what to tell you. Honestly it sounds like pretentious "above this all" crap. If you're content to hang around and let things happen, fine. That's your decision. I'm not, and that's mine.
