Question for anyone. Or for everyone I guess.

How sure are you that you're still alive? Back where you're from I mean.

Like on a scale from 1 to 10. Where 1 is "I definitely died" and 10 is "I'm definitely still alive" and everything in between.

Thanks in advance. I know it's a weird question. I just... I gotta know.



[He's asked some folks, but the results so far are mixed. And Keith needs to figure out one way or another if this is just some weird unexpected afterlife, and he's at a solid 2.5 on his own scale so he's wondering.]

oh i bet a lot of people get blindsided by death! it can come from behind, or below, or even right in front of you if they're quick enough, heck i bet most of the people i killed never knew what hit em! hard to stay conscious after you get messily exploded like that!

if we're all dead that would be pretty neat. i've always wondered what it would be like to be a ghost

There's a lot of people here who would probably disagree about the "neat" thing. They've got lives to get back to.

There are kids here.

it's something about death i don't know and i know a lot about death. i think that's pretty neat

That's fine, but if that's the case, it's not just your death. That's the problem.

Others might not be thrilled at hearing the idea of them being dead called neat.

i don't get it. death happens to everyone. what's wrong with it?

You don't get that talking about being dead, thinking that you might be dead, could be upsetting?

Even if it happens to everyone, it's the end of a life. People are afraid of dying.

Because it's an end. And it's unknown. And a lot of ways of dying hurt.

What the quiznak kind of question is that anyway?

but if we're all dead without knowing it, then it's not an end, and there wasn't any pain!

People will miss their lives. Their friends. Their loved ones

Seriously. How are these questions that have to be answered.

Is it really that hard to imagine people not wanting to be dead? Being afraid and upset about never seeing the places they know, the people they love again?

[Keith is usually the one on the other end of the "oh my god Keith you can't say that to someone" so this is new and surreal for him as role reversals go.]

but it's gonna happen eventually, so i don't see the point in worrying about it. i just think it's cool that we might have something else to do instead of just no longer existing!

that's if this is even an afterlife, which is probably isn't. there would have be a LOT more people here if it was!

People are going to worry. And if people need to mourn their lives, they should be allowed to without being told it's pointless.

But yeah. I don't think this is the afterlife either. I think it's a cage, and I think I'm ready to break the hell out of it.
