USER: #C1BA57 - THE LIBRARY
( COLOR )
This is Cairngorm.
I've noticed that books have writing in them again, which means the library should be back to it's original form. It'll be more useful to everyone if it's organized and has librarians in charge of maintaining it. I'm used to doing work like that, so I don't mind organizing it, but it might be more time efficient to ask if there are others with the skills to help.
Firstly, we should familiarize ourselves with the restored materials. I've only been able to find useless books about talking animals so far, but one of you must have found something other than that by now. It would take years for me to read everything by myself, so if you could summarize any books you've found and return them to the library, you would save us all some time.
Secondly, has anyone considered keeping record of what's happening here? We should start creating archives for future reference now that we're able to. That's assuming we'll be stuck here for however much longer. There are other things like records of the plants and animals we come across that the library would benefit from as well, if you have any. We should be keeping all information like this in one place.
If you have other things in mind the library should have, or are familiar with any of the texts you find, let me know. I'd like to start working on this as soon as possible.

It's a waste of paper to teach that in such a roundabout way
Not to mention that hard work doesn't always mean you'll be able to achieve something

Those are young humans?
Are they harder to teach than adult ones or something
no subject
[ He's laughing at himself, actually. But that might be hard for Cairngorm to understand, so he quickly corrected himself. ]
That is to say, the stubborn ones are. Anyway, they're not hard to teach, they just learn a little differently because they don't know much about the world and need to learn through experiences, usually. Which is why we tell stories like that.

Gems are only kind of like that when we are born
The only stories we learn from after birth are the history of our planet and stories about gems who lived in the past
Either way you seem to know a lot about these children
Is there a reason for that
no subject
I'm around kids quite a lot. I named most of the ones that were born in my territory back home, actually. And... admittedly, I've always wanted a kid myself. I'm just not in a position to have one.

Some gems make clothes or furniture for fun
It depends on the gem and what they find entertaining
So...your kind reproduces generation to generation
Like slugs [ sorry caramia that's all they can liken it to... ]
Don't you need to have offspring to keep your species alive?
no subject
Er. Yes, like slugs, sure. And most other living things. But, yes, we do, but I, myself, can't really afford to have a child. I don't have the time to raise one properly, and the environment it'd grow up in would be an admittedly dangerous one... On top of all that, I don't age like other humans do. I'm functionally immortal, and the thought of raising a child and watching them grow up just to watch them die sounds... heart-breaking. I don't think I could handle it.
no subject
That's too bad
Are there others in your kind that can reproduce instead?
All of us gems live forever so I guess I can't understand the feeling of watching someone else grow up and die while I live
If we're stuck here for long enough I'll probably get it when I start outliving the human inhabitants
no subject
That said, I'm sure we'll find a way to get us home, so that won't be a problem.

Gems get abducted from time to time so I've witnessed that
But it's not like the gems I've seen get taken away were my children or had a definite lifespan or something
So it's a different kind of loss
Either way I think we'll leave eventually I just don't know how long it's going to take

They're a species that lives on our moon
no subject
Literally what the fuck...]I'm so sorry. That must be terrible.
no subject
You said its pretty dangerous where you live too
So we all have things we are facing
It's just the way things are
no subject
Here is nothing like that. Everything is unknown and we are given scraps as a means of answers.
no subject
But we can't expect to know everything after just over a month of time
It hasn't been nearly long enough to know if there's a pattern to
Whatever it is that's happening
At the rate things are going I won't be surprised if it takes a year to know anything substantial

Of course finding a way back is preferable
Realistically I don't see it happening soon is all
I don't think it will take centuries but definitely some stretch of time
no subject
And certainly it will, but one should hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
