It appears that as a group we've all generally agreed to utilize this forum as a means of sharing relevant information with each other and pooling collectively our experiences as we grow acclimated to our new circumstances, so in a similar vein — a few questions, if you will.

1) Has anything verifiably edible (and safe for consumption) been found in the wilds surrounding this town?

2) Has anyone yet identified a foodstuff that isn't altogether flavorless?

There's only one way to find out, I suppose. And for the sake of having something to consume that isn't altogether disgusting, I'm willing to make the effort.

That's an interesting point you make, though. There were preserved foods here, were there not? That's a particularly conspicuous sign of recent life. It's difficult to gauge the age of ruined buildings, for example, but preserved and still-edible food speaks of a recent population that appears to have abruptly disappeared.

I prefer to be precise. Particularly when it involves something I know very little about, and am trying to change that.

Everyone does seem to be fairly cooperative thus far, don't they? An interesting phenomenon; you'd think in a group of this size there'd be at least one or two outliers.

I feel certain there must be something. This place has all the indicators of being a civilization, and I find it difficult to imagine a civilization that doesn't include coffee or some reasonable substitute.

Alternatively, there's always the solution of using ice to numb one's taste buds prior to consumption of the rest of the meal. A dulled sense of taste might make the ashy flavor more palatable, blasphemous though it might be toward the sensibilities of anyone who cares anything about food.

For some reason I can't quite place, I'm rather getting the impression that you hate time travel.
