Good day, all.
I was alerted to the fact that many people here would like more options for soap. Now, I realize some of us who assisted with the geese may have been gifted toiletries, but I'm sure you'd prefer to keep that for your personal hygiene as opposed to using it to wash clothes or what have you.
As such, I spent a little time the other day mixing up some soap. Now, it's currently curing and I won't say that it smells like much of anything, but for basic use it should work well enough. It's unfortunately not vegan, but I'll get to work on alternative solutions as soon as I can.
It should be ready in about a week's time. Would anyone like some?
PS I know the basic mechanics of a spinning wheel and of a couple of simple looms if anyone is interested in possible textile needs. I think I saw some plants that could probably be spun into thread as well. Let me know if that sounds like something you think could be useful.

I didn't know there was anyone here who know how to make soap! That's really helpful. Thank you!!
If you're worried about them not smelling nice there's lavender growing around the forest's edge! I noticed they regained color recently.

I didn't know that it was possible to just make soap here, though I guess of course it is... [CITY BOY.]
Would you be willing to teach other people how to make it too? Then you might have to not do all of the tasks by yourself.

Out of curiosity, would you happen to have any tips for properly raising chickens?
no subject
And yes, I do actually. Would you just like some general guidelines or should we cover that when I come by?

Did you want to learn soapmaking as well? It's really not that hard.
A chef like you would probably pick it up relatively quickly.

Vegan soap?
no subject
It shouldn't be impossible, no. Just not the priority at the moment. The kind of processing required to get vegetable oils isn't feasible given the food production needs and our limited resources.

What would you need to give the soap some scent?
Also I would be interested in those looms. I know I could use more fabric to work with and I can't be the only one.
There's only so much you can do with the ye olde time clothing that's around.
no subject
As for the looms, I can make those relatively simply. Though I make you a bet we can do quite a lot with the old timey clothing by cutting it along the seams to use the fabric.
The spinning will take a little longer than the weaving, both to make the mechanisms and to learn to do consistently. And you'll need that, I'd figure, to get your weaving materials. I'll see what I can pick up around to process while I'm looking for the lavender. Cotton would be the simplest since you can spin that right off the seed.
But a simple backstrap loom, though, that I can whip up in a few minutes.

Are you willing to teach people how to make soap or use the spinning wheels?
no subject
I know a few methods of spinning, since my mother enjoyed doing it with her friends and I spent a lot of time with her. Wheels are just the most productive, but spindles would be good for people who are walking patrols or otherwise occupied to get something done at the same time.

I see someone else has brought up the matter of smell, so I will offer some red roses that have bloomed in front of my house, if you would like.
I also know someone who might be interested in this textile production. Is there any way we can assist you with that?
no subject
As for textiles, I've been looking around for things in the woods and I've found some cotton. It's not the easiest starter material, but I'd be happy to show anyone interested.
