I went hunting today and brought back one of those spider deer. I have butchered the meat though I admit I did not do as well a job as I could. The shape of the animal was a bit different than I was used to.
I cannot finish all this meat by myself so if anyone wishes to share they can come to where I am staying. I've also cleaned the hide if anyone has any use for it.
Whatever is not claimed in the next hour or so I will cure using salt. The process will take a few weeks as the meat dries but when it is done I will place it in one of the supply depots. For that purpose, does anyone know where I can get my hands on any spices? The traditional blend we use is made from fenugreek, garlic and chili peppers, but I believe any blend made from what is available here should do well enough.
Obviously, I cannot hunt and cure enough meat for everyone in town but if anyone is willing to help out we can probably form a hunting party and keep up with a decent supply of both fresh meat and preserved meat for storage. It would also provide us with fat and animal hides, both of which have various uses.
Do not worry about not knowing how to do any of this. I am more than willing to teach anyone who wants to learn.

A hunting party? Count me in! I bet my bottom boonbuck i could bring back a plethora of dead things as much as i dislike shooting the poor devils its apposite for survival in dire cases.
[ shut the fuck up you love shooting things. ]
I say what kind of weapon did you use to fetch yourself a kill?
[ please entertain him he's all about this kind of stuff.. ]

Oh well.]
As long as we do not waste any part of the animals we bring back and we do not take more than we need it should be fine.
I shot it with an arrow. For smaller prey I'd normally be able to rely on Iskender but there was something I wanted to test out with the curing process so I wanted to hunt something bigger.
[As in, he boiled water from the harbour and got something that might be salt but since it tasted like ash he had no idea if it really was salt.]

A bow? That seems rather primitive if you ask me. Though nice shot! I dont think i could really shoot well with a bow.
I have plenty of spare guns if you or anyone else would like to learn.
[ why does this seem like a good idea IT'S NOT.. ]

I have learned that the time period I came from seem to be much further in the past compared to others.
What is a gun?

Not to imply I have any need for fresh blood.
But hypothetically.
no subject
[After all, all animals bled in his experience.]
The first step before the animal could be skinned was to bleed it.
And it wouldn't be strange at all if one needed fresh blood. I know many countries and people to the East used it in various dishes. Though I cannot claim to know how to make them.
no subject
I'm guessing that you've already bled this one? So maybe I'll have to hope there's a next time.
Not that I myself am going to indulge in blood, or anything. Really.
no subject
I hadn't thought to save the blood because I had no use for it. Should there be anyone who need of it I could find some sort of container to bring it back me the next time I go hunting.
I apologize if I am overstepping my bounds by saying this, but considering that we all come from places that are vastly different in terms of just about everything, we should be honest with each other about what we need.
I do not know about others, but if you do need the blood I will not press you for the reason.

there might be some spices in the forest
how good is your knowledge on wild spices
no subject
Enough that I won't accidentally pick something poisonous. I am not a culinary expert, however.

well
you'll see i guess
if you could write something about it i can go and look

There should be something spicy and fragrant. If this is salt, I doubt it will improve the flavour of the meat so maybe something that would mask whatever flavour it would impart on the meat.
I personally don't care so much if it tastes good as long as it fills my stomach, but there is nothing wrong in trying to make it taste better.

I don't know if any of the spices you listed here are usable right now, but there's salt and I think I saw some lavender growing around the town now!
no subject
I managed to get some salt by boiling water from the harbour. [Well, he's pretty sure it's salt, anyway.] I don't think I've ever seen lavender used in this way. There is no harm in trying, I suppose.

I would appreciate it, if you could.

What is your name? And do you have any prior experience?
no subject
and yeah, pretty much
i've been out camping in the wild with friends for a few months now
we had to hunt for our own food
no subject
I see. That's valuable experience. I have been on the road for a while before I got here but we were a bit too pressed for time to hunt. We've mostly been subsisting on field rations.
Were you and your friends travelling?
