User: #FFDF00 - Bestiary, an update, and an offering!!
Hi, Chroma! This is Izuku Midoriya. We got a lot of new people since the last time I posted, so I thought I'd introduce myself again in case we haven't met yet. Anyway, there's a few things I wanted to discuss.
[Oddly enough, even though the newcomers' texts have all gained color recently, Izuku's is still the default black.]
1. I've finished the bestiary of the creatures we've come across in the forest & town so far. If there's anything missing, let me know and I'll add it in. I'll do my best to keep this updated and open for anyone to access on the forum from now on, in case anyone goes into the forest and comes across any of these again. Even if we keep running into new creatures, knowing what to expect can still help a lot.
You can find the information here: ╭( ・ㅂ・)و✧ (ooc: pretend it's a link to another forum post)
So far there's just this digital version, but I can also work on a physical copy to put in the library if people want that? It'll be easier to include drawings of these creatures that way.
2. It looks like there's a clear trend in the kind of creatures that we're running into now. The majority of them are from some kind of mythology, all from different cultures. A friend of mine was able to analyze some samples brought back from the forest, and it turns out that these creatures don't have a history, as if they were created solely for us to run into while we're in there.
Right now, the bestiary only includes the ones we know for sure are around, but after hearing what my friend had to say, I think it would be a good idea to add a section for other well known mythological creatures as a precaution.
What do you guys think?
3. That brings me to the next point! If you let me borrow something of yours last time, you can come pick it up now! Or I could bring it to you, whatever works.
4. I have a manual charger now! If you have a small electronic device that you want charged, just let me know and I'd be happy to help you out! I think it's only enough to work on cellphones and things like that, but that's better than nothing, right?

I'll see what I can do. I'm rusty with my knowledge of mythical and fairytale creatures, but hopefully the library will have books that can help fill in the gaps.
Any potentials you think I should add in particular?

Off the top of my head: demons, goat men, minotaurs, mirrors, shadows. I'll have to think on some more but doing some research on should help. Do we know if the minotaur here is purely evil or feral?
[ ONE OF DIANA'S BEST FRIENDS IS A MINOTAUR.... so he's a little biased ]

I'm not sure... my friend's reading on the minotaur said that it was made specifically to guard the maze in the forest, just like a bunch of the other creatures I listed were created for us to find. I don't know if that makes it evil, but it was definitely made to attack us.

They're originally from Greek myth. Protected a labyrinth and used as a metaphor for violence. There's more to it that I can delve into later if you'd like but it's supposed to guard inner depths, which can be interpreted in a variety of ways -- not always a bad thing, necessarily.

[No time to waste, since he already knows what he's looking for.]
So there was a labyrinth in the original myth as well? It really does look more and more like whoever's making these creatures for the forest is drawing straight from mythology.
Someone mentioned that the trial we got put through in the last quest was from Greek myth, too.

We could also go over themes and motifs found in folklore and myths. Damian and I have already been talking about what may come up too so you can ask him for his thoughts.

I will! I hadn't considered that themes and motifs could come into play here, but it makes sense when you consider how many fairytale and mythology elements they're already borrowing.
