The bogeyman that was hiding in town has finally been defeated, but it was at the cost of three lives. Dave, John and Dextera. I couldn't save them. I'm sorry.

Okuyasu and Asuka are badly injured, but are currently being treated for it. [He is too? He's bleeding all over his laptop, but it's fine.]

Dextera's body changed into something else, but the other two are still remaining. I think they both have family here, or something close. You can contact me and I'll tell you where they are, so you can arrange a burial or whatever you think is best.

I take full responsibility for this. There's still going to be a defense force meeting at the beginning of next month, so we can talk about it then. I know there could still be people missing from the werewolf thing, too, so keep your eyes open for them, alive or otherwise. If you have questions, I'll try to answer them.

[Of course, after this, he'll be in his room at his laptop, so people are free to come bother him. He's covered in blood, most notably a stab wound straight through his chest at the heart, and it looks like he's only partially been able to deal with that. He's not bleeding out as quickly? But his healing isn't working. He's only just barely come back to consciousness from Mahiru taking over.]

How did the Bogeyman get into town? I thought the monsters did not venture out of the forest?

[ there's a lot to process. people she knows are dead and injured - she will grieve in her own privacy. ]

They didn't, before. This one was different. As soon as someone went in to try and attack it per the quest, it fled into the town. It's been hiding out and drawing out people's fears, putting lives at risk. We had to take care of it.

Take care of it yes, but was anyone else alerted to this outside yourself and the five in your group? I faced that monster in the woods, I saw what it was capable of.

There were others who fought it. Any of them. The quest was the alert, and anyone following that had to have known.

The idea was to take care of it before it caused any real trouble with those who weren't looking to fight it.

That's not what I mean.

[ she breathes in, frustrated, angered. ]

Six people is not enough to fight a force of evil such as the Bogeyman. You shouldn't have had such a small group go in.

I know that now.

It's a careful balance between too few and too many. Too many people and things get messy. The bogeyman, especially, played with fears. I chose a group of who I thought would work, and we tried it.

We succeeded, but this was the price.

I know that I messed up, but that doesn't mean more people would have helped. It could have meant more deaths, as well.

Respectfully, I disagree. You have an entire organized defense force which you take charge of. Those people agreed to protect this town from danger, but you chose not to call them into action?

Everyone was still recovering from the werewolf thing. On top of that, you don't put all of your force into one battle.

And I don't risk more lives than necessary.

[ there's a biting comment to that last line she would surely not be able to stop herself from blurting out. something along the lines of "your risk evaluation was rather poor then given the outcome." the beauty of a messaging system means she can stop herself from lashing out in anger to a degree.

(she does type it though, before quickly deleting after a moment of reflection.) ]

The werewolves aren't an excuse, not unless people you asked directly told you it wasn't possible for them to assist as a result of it. A dire evil such as that monster needed more than just a scant force.

I don't say this to upset you, or to judge. I only ask that next time, you do not make a decision of this level without including those under you as resources.

If you want, show up at the meeting next month. That's part of what we're going to talk about. The people I used weren't a "scant force". I judged the abilities of the people I took against that monster.

I was wrong. But sending in everyone could have gone worse, so that was the decision I made.

With the type of monster it was, I think that death was unavoidable. I'm used to fighting things of that nature, and I don't make decisions lightly. Know that.

Like I said, I take responsibility.

[THEY SURE DO. Guren definitely reads this message, but he doesn't reply. With his slow replies the whole time, dealing with not bleeding out and such, maybe it'll seem natural.]
