[Well, that doesn't bode well. Okuyasu gives him about... ten minutes, then tries again:]

[Sigh. Alright. Five more minutes, and he's gotta get up and go down to Rin's place and bang on the door himself. At least he's nearby...]

[Remember that whole talk about a bonfire? Might notice something smells suspiciously like burning.

At first there's no answer, but eventually the door cracks open just enough to see half of Rin's face.]

... 'mfine. You didn't have to come check on me.

[He really doesn't look fine.]

You look like shit. Lemme in— the fuck are you doing in there?

[He's gonna push on the door and try to shoulder his way in whether Rin lets him in or not, so, please step back!!]

Wh-- h-hey!

[It's just startling enough that Rin doesn't push back or hold his ground, instead stumbling away from the door as Okuyasu shoves his way inside.

The living room looks like it always has... save for what was once one of the tables he had set up for the people who visited Chroma Cafe. It's now a pile of ash on the floor, one of the nearby chairs scorched from the flames that had taken the life of that poor table.

Rin hovered back near the open door, looking away with a pinched, tense expression with a hand gripping his upper arm and tail hanging low to the floor.]

[Yeah, this totally looks like the house of a guy who's just fine... Okuyasu takes a look around the room before finally looking back at Rin with a sigh.]

You're gonna burn your damn house down if you keep it up. C'mon, dude.

[Talk to him... do it. It's the only way.]

[Totally fine. Completely fine. Not in the middle of an emotional breakdown at all!

Except he is, and even if the table hadn't been turned to ash it would still be obvious.]

I just... I just wanted to talk to him... but all he wanted to do was avoid me! I know what happened to Dad and me was my fault but why would he just abandon me like that?!

[Ohhh my goddd, okay, he's not equipped to deal with, hm, all of this! But he's already here!!]

He didn't do that back home! [Of course Yukio being Yukio meant that he just shoved himself in to work to avoid most of the fall out from their father's passing.

But they also actually had a chance to talk about it because Rin forced the conversation to happen.]

I-- back home he was... he wasn't okay and I tried to rescue him but he wouldn't let me and I knew somethin' terrible was gonna happen, but I got dragged here before I could find out and... I just thought maybe if- if I could talk to him here I could figure out what caused all that shit to happen a year later, like what he might be thinkin' and...

[He rambled somewhat incoherently, eventually trailing off because he didn't even fully understand his own thought process anymore. He just wanted Yukio back! He didn't care how or when or where, he didn't want to lose his brother!

Sorry, Okuyasu, this breakdown has been a long time coming and for all he's trying to keep it together he can't deal with it anymore. Hands over his face, his shoulders start shaking, tears slipping down his cheeks.]

Why'd he have to leave... ?

[Here? Back home? Maybe both.]

[Ah, jeez. Okuyasu just lets him get it all out, only partly because he has no idea what to say to make this better. He can relate, his brother was a piece of work himself, but he likes to think he wouldn't be this... destroyed about it, if Keicho showed up only to ignore him and leave again. It wouldn't be anything new.

But Rin is clearly more emotional than he is, and he probably could have guessed that, but somehow he didn't expect messy breakdowns when he stormed over here to see if he was super pissed.

So. Since Rin is just... standing there crying... Okuyasu sighs shortly and takes a half-step forward, yanking him into a gruff hug. Don't object, it's happening.]

I dunno, man. This whole place is shit, and your bro getting sent back's just the cherry on top of the shit pie, y'know?

[All Rin had growing up was him and Shiro. Shiro is gone, dead by his own hands to save Rin from Satan.

Yukio is heading down a bad path and if Rin loses him...

No objections to that hug here. It was clear from arrival that he was struggling to deal with his feelings about the situation that he had to leave behind, but Yukio vanishing from Chroma was the final crack in the dam that made it break.

Give him a few, buddy. He'll calm down soon.]

[Yeah, okay, he's getting one hell of a hug. Okuyasu is out of words; "shit sucks" is the limit of his capacity for comfort, so... this hug is what's left. He doesn't know what else to do but let Rin cry on him until he feels at least a little better-- maybe eventually this town will stop making all his friends die or break down.

But not today, it seems. So: a hug.

After a little while, he'll speak up again.] So... you okay?

[Hugs are good. Hugs make him feel less alone, less like an absolute failure who can't even save his brother from himself. Or from whatever fuckery this place is.

There's a long silence following the question, but eventually he shakes his head, voice coming out hoarse and thick.]

No. ... feel a little better, though.

[pursestrings]

Yeah, I figured. 'S okay, things're shitty around here.

[And Okuyasu doesn't let him go just yet, patting him on the back as if to emphasize that, yes, things suck here in Shitsville, which was totally a better name for the town all along.]

Uh— you wanna go burn more stuff?

[He appreciates the comfort, though, even if there's some awkwardness with it still.]
