i. Post-er Boy for Fearlessness
[Unlike others, Prompto's as cheery and invested as ever, so it's hard even for him to pin down anything that might be wrong.
But something definitely is. Forum user #FFF59D, one of the yellowest of yellows, makes a post that seems perfectly reasonable to him.]
so you guys remember that near death quest that everyone was 100% sure was a bad idea??
i'm open for it, on a couple conditions.
i. whatever you do doesn't actually HURT me, i'm not here to get laid up in bed for weeks or even hours! who has time for that??? you can try to scare me or whatever or push me off a roof but if i get more than a bruise we're not friends anymore. (โฌ ร โธ ร)
ii. you're gonna owe me a favor, since that's only fair, right?? there aren't that many yellows in town and you can't do the quest w/o a yellow. you can go hunting with me in the woods or smth but if that isn't your speed, we can negotiate!
it doesn't have to be paid right away anyway, doesn't look like any of us are going anywhere anytime soon. u know it's been almost a year since i got here? and some ppl have been here even longer! wild, right?
anyway if you wanna do it, you can contact me here or just come find me. this is prompto argentum if u don't know my hex code. i'm the blond guy always dressed in black with the chocobo/chicken hair, i'll b around.
cya! (ใปโงโ)ใ
ii. Man of (Open) Action
[SO THAT POST WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA, but you know who doesn't seem to think so? Prompto. He's not worried about anything at all, it seems, not even the danger he's putting himself in all on his own just hanging out up on the roofs of Bluo.
He appears to be taking pictures of the structural damage from the dragon attacks with a bird's-eye view, maybe to aid in repairs. April showers and all that, and Bluo's an easy district to flood or worse in a heavy rain. Never mind that it's already rainy this week and the wet roofs aren't doing his physical safety any favors.
Prompto's usually less reckless than this. What on Eos is going on with him?]
iii. Wild(card) Thing, You Make My Heart Sing
[Something else? Set me up! Or hit me on Plurk at
asherdashery to discuss details first.]

ive been training for the past year to control that
no subject
i'll do it but i gotta check something w/ u first in person. u around bluo?
no subject
yeah at the cafe
no subject
[There he goes, trotting along those streets and canals he's come to know so well. He enters and knocks on the inside of the door only as an afterthought.]
Hey, Rin! Is now even a good time? Guess I should've checked first.
no subject
If he was in his room, maybe, but at the moment he's simply cleaning up tables and chairs in the dining area.
He flips the chair he'd been rubbing clean with a rag to set it seat-down on the table top, shaking his head.]
You're fine.
[He sounds... off. Almost dully interested in whatever is happening.]
no subject
Okaaay, but are you fine? You sound... tired.
[He rounds a table to lean over and try to get a better look at Rin's face.]
no subject
The answer is a resounding "no".
He shrugs a shoulder, trying to muster up something other than what he's currently lacking and coming up short even there.]
Not really. Guess somethin' is goin' on in the town again. I feel better when others are around me but when they're not it's like...
[A frown, tugging hard as he admits quietly:]
It's like I can't care about anyone.
no subject
Well, that seems pretty messed up.
[YA THINK? Frowning, he inspects Rin even more worriedly.]
We don't have to do this right now if you don't want to. I mean... I guess it'd be better for you if you do mess up and hurt me, 'cause you won't care. Not that that's great. But it'd kinda suck for me!
[After a pause, he lifts a hand.]
Are you feeling sick? Feverish?
no subject
Another shake of his head, hand coming up to stop Prompto's. Rin ran hot normally anyway, so better to not freak him out with that.]
No. Not really. Just... off. I still wanna help you with the quest, though.
no subject
[Still, Prompto sounds less than certain.]
As long as it doesn't hurt humans... it wouldn't hurt anyone who's maybe, uh. I mean, I'm not a daemon, but if I was maybe, uhhh... You know, what if someone was trying something a little different at the baby-making factory? Would that affect things at all?
no subject
Uhm. ... I mean, probably not if you're still... human? I'm guessin' that's what you mean? ... I'unno, might need to explain it to me like I'm dumb.
[Because he is.]
no subject
[Prompto presses his fingertips against the inner corners of his eyes, steeling himself for the coming unpleasant conversation.
Thank the Stars he can't currently feel fear, or he'd never be able to say this.]
Would if matter if I was... mmmmade? By daemons? Or humans who were turning into daemons, except maybe they weren't yet? Or like... if I was going to get turned into a daemon later? Just wondering!
no subject
Oh.
[Oh.
That was. Unexpected, yes, but Rin had never been one to judge before now and he wasn't about to start.
Still, that must have sucked for him... and Rin can somewhat sympathize given his own situation of being half and knowing there were still those in the Order who wanted to use him as a weapon and nothing more.
He shook his head finally after a long, thoughtful pause.]
I can choose what to burn. What my flames are supposed t' do is remove a possessed demon from Assiah. Pretty sure it wouldn't work on your kind of... daemon [It's so weird to say it that way] anyway, since they're not from Gehenna.
no subject
[After a pause, Prompto runs his hands back through his hair and shakes his head.]
Again, as far as I know, I'm human, anyway, so yeah, it shouldn't matter What kind of daemons we have. Just can't be too careful, right? [He nods.] Sounds like I'll be fine.

[Rin isn't so far gone with this lacking emotion nonsense that he wants Prompto hurt.
It does help having someone physically near him again, though. The numbness doesn't ebb the way it does when that person happens to be Kohaku or Kaoru, but he's got enough of a friendship going with Prompto that it still pushes some of it away. Enough that he even manages a lopsided but not entirely bright grin, showing off one of his fangs.]
Guess I'm gonna have to make it a big one since you know what's comin' now.
[He motions to the door, indicating that they should probably not do this indoors.]
no subject
[He punches the air confidently as they make their exit.]
Wouldn't be the first time a friend set me on fire, probably won't be the last!
no subject
Maybe later when they're not a giant mess of missing emotions.
Rin snagged his sword just before they walked out of the door and headed to the small yard connected to the cafe/house. He gave it a lazy spin while still in the sheath, looking for a good place for both of them to stand.]
Alright. I don't wanna hit you with the blade, so gimmie some distance.
no subject
[Away Prompto trots, approximately the distance they'd need to play catch. He checks behind him to make sure nothing's around to make charred collateral damage, then holds up an OK sign.]
This good? Need me to go longer?
no subject
Rin gives a nod and a thumbs up, gripping the hilt of his sword. There's a beat of hesitation, brief enough that Prompto likely wouldn't catch it. Worry was creeping back in, proximity to another person working to make him concerned for said person.
You've done this before. Just because you don't have Ucchusma anymore doesn't mean you lack control now...
He breathed in deeply and removed the blade from the sheath, the same blue glow and flames from the dragon fight appearing. He had, of course, never prepared for the possibility of purposely launching a fire ball of a friend, so it wasn't like he had an attack name ready for this one.
He did, however, have the feeling from that fight in Kyoto. For all that had happened between then and now, that night still burned in his veins. That terrifying moment when he nearly lost it all, followed by the absolute elation of winning against the Impure King and being able to control his flames in a way he had never thought possible.
Sword held at his side, tip pointed at the ground he focused on that memory with his eyes closed as he built up a swirling mass of blue flames around the blade. Bigger and bigger, as much as he could possibly stand without fully draining himself in the process. Finally, after what likely felt like an eternity he spun around with that mass of flames and...
Slammed it in to the ground.
It was like Rin didn't even try to aim for Prompto.
Except something was happening beneath the ground where he had seemingly extinguished the fire. On one knee, the blade buried deep in to the soil, he opened his eyes and looked directly at his target with an expression could easily be described as "terrifyingly determined".]
Satan Bomb!
[The ground shook, a crack opening and rushing along directly at Prompto, stopping directly beneath his feet as bright blue flames exploded up around him.
It wasn't burning, though. There was a wind, warm and strangely calm for all the power Rin had put behind it. Like standing above a heating vent barely warmer than the air around them.]
no subject
And it's warm. It's pleasant, and Prompto lowers his arms incredulously before throwing them all the way up, reveling in the pyrotechnic drama of it all without a scratch on him.]
Dude! This is amazing!
[He doesn't even think to take a photo, he's so enraptured.]
no subject
That was a lot of energy expended all at once, a bit of sweat beading on his brow from it. He sheathed his sword and extinguished the flames, walking forward now that the task is done.]
Told you. I've trained a lot to get this good.
