[ contrary to his fairly casual way of speaking, Lupin types on the forums exactly the way you'd expect a gentleman from the 1800s to write a letter. ]
My dear fellow abductees,
The recent events involving Shadows and Shadow-Monsters led to the unfortunate loss of my hat; with their activity subsided, I assumed that my stolen goods would be returned to me. However, it appears they had one last prank to play on me: I am reunited with a hat, but not my own. It is a navy blue pork pie hat with a red and white ribbon, adorned with a cute pink flower. I've attached a rather poor image of it - my description may be of more use.
[ attached is an artistic depiction of a hat. He did his best with the laptop touchpad and the paint program... ]
If you are the owner of this hat, it shall be returned to you. And if you have my hat - a fine silk top hat with a red tie - this is a notice of my intention to take it back, if you will not hand it over yourself.
Cordialement,
Lupin

I had no idea. I was certain it wasn't that long at all.
[ Though how she knows... Her cheeks light up slightly, since the truth is, well. Embarrassing. ]
I think I was standing still for a while, but I do not know how or why. And I hope you don't mind, but I'd rather not say how I know even that here. I don't think it's as important as the fact that I definitely was standing still for a while. Quite a while, apparently.
[ aka birds pooped on her statue ]

I believe I have an idea of what may have happened to you. There's someone here who's been turned into a statue for reasons unknown. Perhaps you suffered the same fate? It's a baseless guess, but it's one reason you might have stood still without knowing it.

[ Because she thinks of it in scientific terms, naturally. It might be something she's sort of seen, since Vigors allow people to change matter in strange ways, but it's temporary or partial. Actually turning someone into something else, though... Was there someone actually "running" this town after all? ]
But even so, if you've heard of that it happened to someone else, then it must be the case for me too. Who is it? Are they still a statue?

In any case, it was a girl named Vriska, and I believe she's still trapped, yes. If you ask John or Dave, they might know more.

I will talk to them, though. Maybe I can help.

[ Which... it definitely is. But if he's curious about it, she'd rather tell him in person. The idea of other people reading it rather than her telling him makes her uncomfortable. What if there was someone from Columbia here...? ]
I do enjoy science and mathematics, though. Ms. Rosalind Lutece's book on quantum mechanics is one of my favorites, in fact.

That sounds quite advanced for someone who's only a hobbyist. I like to consider myself a jack-of-all-trades, but I don't know the first thing about quantum mechanics.

[ She's seen one Tear, after all. There's no better way to teach than a physical explanation, though tracking one down could be difficult. They don't seem to be as frequent, but she's actually a little glad for that. ]

There's something else that makes me feel a little more sure that I'm right, but I'll show that to you in person sometime. It's usually easier to explain when you can see it.

Well, now you've gone and gotten me curious. I'll pay you a house visit some time, mademoiselle.

I would love that. We also don't have to talk about physics. I would still be just as happy to talk about Paris or anything else.

As you wish. I'll prepare a bevy of topics to keep the lady happy, then. I suppose you must be feeling a bit left out after everything that happened; if you allow it, I'll be glad to provide you company and fill you in on the details as well.
I WAS DOING AC AND JUST SAW THIS... WTF STOP EATING MY TAGS GMAIL
It's not much, but I can at least make us tea to share.
[ since food is still just not generally fun to eat, save a few exceptions ]
SURE I SEE HOW IT IS

Eventually we might be able to make something actually good, though!
[ she's positive, at least!! because yeah for now it's probably really bad but she tried ]

I'm quite sure that we will; we are already amassing an interesting stock of fruits and vegetables. If we are lucky then we will get proper tea-blocks or tea-bags or perhaps just Seeds to go with it all soon. After that, it's only a matter of time until we can bake a proper scone to match.
no subject
maybe ]
That's what I'm hoping. Since there were some fruits, I thought it would at least be worth trying to use them. [ But also like, she didn't exactly use a lot. So. Definitely mixed results with this tea, and it's obvious ] I hope there's enough for scones eventually. I haven't really tried baking before, so that would be a good excuse to try.
