[ contrary to his fairly casual way of speaking, Lupin types on the forums exactly the way you'd expect a gentleman from the 1800s to write a letter. ]
My dear fellow abductees,
The recent events involving Shadows and Shadow-Monsters led to the unfortunate loss of my hat; with their activity subsided, I assumed that my stolen goods would be returned to me. However, it appears they had one last prank to play on me: I am reunited with a hat, but not my own. It is a navy blue pork pie hat with a red and white ribbon, adorned with a cute pink flower. I've attached a rather poor image of it - my description may be of more use.
[ attached is an artistic depiction of a hat. He did his best with the laptop touchpad and the paint program... ]
If you are the owner of this hat, it shall be returned to you. And if you have my hat - a fine silk top hat with a red tie - this is a notice of my intention to take it back, if you will not hand it over yourself.
Cordialement,
Lupin
PS: Do we have a name for our Town yet?

[ ...That certainly is his hat. Which would explain a few things! Like the hat that is very much not his own that's been tossed carelessly onto the table beside him.
...Cute flower? ]
Am I to take it that this ugly thing is yours, then?

There's no accounting for taste.
no subject
Clearly not. It would have been a blessing if it had been properly disposed of.
Are you certain you want it back? I could quite easily save us all the trouble while it's here, and I'm afraid if it's a matter of the greater good...

But, in order to forcibly take something, don't you have to locate it first?
[ Is he typing this from across the hall, you bet he is. ]

I already know where it is, as it so happens. Half of the purpose of this message was to draw out the one in possession of it.
no subject
It could have gone just about the opposite way, though. Instead of drawing them out, you could have further pressed them into hiding, had they intended to keep your hat. It is a very fashionable item, you do realize?

As for the name of the town, guess we never decided on one.

[It looks like Kyrie had Lupin's hat...? From glancing at the forum. So that's good.]
I don't think we ever really properly decided on a name for the town, no. We should probably come up with something at some point... just "the town" is kind of gloomy.

Honestly, when you put it like that, it sounds really official... I'd be okay with a name like that, but the trick is getting everyone to use it, I think.
It'll sound more natural then.

As far as I know, it doesn’t have a name... we should give it one, though. It’s difficult to refer to this place otherwise, isn’t it? Even there, saying “this place” doesn’t feel like a natural thing to say.
(Also, it’s very nice of you to try and return this person’s hat.)
Sincerely,
Elizabeth

Something strange certainly happened, but I have no idea what... As I recall, we had spoken recently, Mr. Lupin.

[He can read but also he's not sure he has faith in Kyrie just simply handing it over without fussing. Oh well.]
a town name is just one of the other things we're missing around here, so no. not yet.

I assumed as much, but it was worth asking. It is hardly a priority; still, the thought crossed my mind.

I think someone brought up name ideas before, but we never did decide on one. Maybe we should have a vote at the next town meeting.
Re: #FFDF00
[ kyrie is... difficult. ]
As for a name, it hardly matters much. Nevertheless, if we are to be staying here for the long term, it's something to consider.
no subject
Yeah... at least we'll have a name to refer to it by if we pick one out.

As for names, I have a few, but I'm more interested in hearing suggestions from others at the moment - have any ideas?
