[ contrary to his fairly casual way of speaking, Lupin types on the forums exactly the way you'd expect a gentleman from the 1800s to write a letter. ]
My dear fellow abductees,
The recent events involving Shadows and Shadow-Monsters led to the unfortunate loss of my hat; with their activity subsided, I assumed that my stolen goods would be returned to me. However, it appears they had one last prank to play on me: I am reunited with a hat, but not my own. It is a navy blue pork pie hat with a red and white ribbon, adorned with a cute pink flower. I've attached a rather poor image of it - my description may be of more use.
[ attached is an artistic depiction of a hat. He did his best with the laptop touchpad and the paint program... ]
If you are the owner of this hat, it shall be returned to you. And if you have my hat - a fine silk top hat with a red tie - this is a notice of my intention to take it back, if you will not hand it over yourself.
Cordialement,
Lupin

You see, I happen to be in possession of a pair of legs! They're quite useful for traveling.
Do you have any other stupid questions? I would rather get them out of the way here, before I've the option to shoot you for asking them.

[ He really wants his hat back... ]
I may have legs, but I aaaaabsolutely refuse to use them for your sake. However, I am most assuredly in Ruga.
I even have a stupid, shitty lion with me to prove it, though I suppose you would have to take my word for that as well... Would you rather I use his computer?

Will this suffice? Or do you need further persuasion? I could simply be asking him to do this for me, after all.
[ Well, this certainly doesn’t sound like Caramia. ]
no subject
[ that's probably not an insult...?! ]
You've convinced me. I'll go to monsieur Caramia's home posthaste. If you're not there, I'll just leave his hat with him, for the record.
no subject
If I'm not here, then you've likely taken too long.
[ This is the last response Lupin will get, given that Kyrie promptly closes his laptop, snatches up the hat sitting tauntingly beside him, and excuses himself to step outside. Sitting inside all day with nothing to do but stare at a screen has made him too antsy to let himself be cooped up too long.
Whenever the thief arrives, he'll happen upon Kyrie, just. Toying with the gears that sit along the hat's side. They don't even do anything, what the fuck... ]

in any case, Lupin is pleasantly surprised to find Kyrie actually there with his hat. What he'd said was true - he didn't think Caramia would abet him in any weird tricks - but considering his first encounter with him and their subsequent network interaction here, he's still expecting some obstacle to pop up. But nope. There he is. Lupin's brought his hat, too, spinning it casually around his pointer finger. ]
Oh! You really have it! Now there's a sight for sore eyes.

Still, he stops playing with the hat, opting instead to push off of the wall he'd been leaning against to meet Lupin as he nears.
"Do I seem like someone who would lie?"
He's certainly grinning like the type of person who would, and does, often. But that's neither here nor there, since he does seem to be telling the truth this time! And all his usual methods of making an exchange like this difficult rely on things that just don't exist in this town yet. Lucky break.
"It's trouble enough to have it stolen in the first place, I think."
no subject
My thoughts exactly. I'm glad you agree.
[ emboldened by the sight of his hat, perhaps, he walks right over, reaching out to plop Kyrie's hat back where it belongs - on top of Kyrie's head. ]

Kyrie doesn't have much time to be disappointed, however, seeing as Lupin's decided they're close enough that he can just?? Reach into his personal space like this???
"...You know, I really ought to shoot you for that."
For what? Mistakenly getting his hat? Returning his hat? Or for being so kind as to put it on for him? Whatever the reason, he's smiling as he says it, cheerful as ever despite the hint of threat in his eye. His hold on the hat in his hands tightens--and briefly, he entertains the thought of throwing it down the street, not unlike a frisbee.
But, after a moment, he reaches up with one hand to adjust the one now safely back on his head... and then, quite simply, shoves Lupin's over his face.
"Thank you! This is a much better view."
no subject
His sigh can still be heard from behind his hat when Kyrie shoves it in his face, though. ]
You shouldn't threaten people so much. [ grabbing his hat and shifting it up to sit on his head properly, fixing his hair in the meantime. ] Someday, someone's going to take you seriously, and you'll get hurt.
