Considering the mention of shadows in some of the previous posts, I was curious to know how many of you are knowledgeable about the studies of the psychiatrist Carl Jung and his own theories on the matter.
[Clearly there's nothing special about this query, right.]

So naturally that rings a few bells over here, though... he's also rather curious about the person asking.
Hmmm...]
You mean like... the part of our personalities that we don't accept? That sort of shadow? I don't really know if those other shadows are connected to that, though...
[Not that he saw them, but it doesn't sound very similar to the Shadows he's experienced, at least.]

All just guesswork, of course.
no subject
Hard to say without seeing them, I guess.
[... May as well take a stab in the dark, right?]
If they were feelings like that, though, what would you do about them?
no subject
[Bingo, Minato.]
I'd see if we could talk with them first. No use rushing into battle and causing an even worse situation.
no subject
Shadows that talk? Is that a really common thing that you're used to?

I don't think they're what Jung was talking about.

Re: #4FB6C3
Entirely non-corporeal. My sword went straight through them like they were thin air, with no effect at all. But they still managed to grab Dave and me with no problem. I haven't felt warm since, like they sucked all the warmth right out of me.
They were like phantoms, but I don't know if I believe in that sort of thing.

I see...
Ghost-like beings that attempt to remove your own heat. I wonder if you met them again if it had transferred to them...
But thank you. This is good to note for others and myself to be careful.

and the less it is shown in your conscious life the blacker and denser it is
its not supposed to be inherently positive or negative i dont think
dont quote me on that though
its been a while since i discussed jung in depth
my sister tends to default to freud

True. Sometimes it is called the Id or the Archetype for this reason.
Someone who is cruel may have a shadow that is their opposite...but mainly, it is usually something that you wish to ignore, but is a part of you.

definitely pretty sure that wasnt what we encountered
but i suppose in that case my shadow would be into pop music and probably would enjoy discussions about feelings

[ Nobody thus far has understood what an arge is or why sheep are horrifying, so. ]
But you sound like you have a theory.
no subject
[He'll leave it at that.]
A theory, yes. Nothing proven yet, but I'm not alien to the concept of shadow creatures in forests.

[ Yet there seem like a bunch of different Japans or something???
what is japan, is that like the calvard republic]Feel like sharing?
no subject
[Japan is where most of the anime comes from I mean what.]
Carl Jung spoke of Shadows...the darker side of humans that they try to ignore. Sometimes it can take over a user, or far worse things...we still don't know what happened to the people of this world either...if they were people at all.

I see you have some theories already.
no subject
A few...
However those who have encountered the creatures have already unfortunately disproved most of them.
no subject
I must admit, I'm impressed with the familiarity of the subject by many of our colleagues here.
How so?
no subject
It is pleasing to be surrounded by others with such knowledge, I agree.
[Ahh yes, it's a sort of compliment as far as Nanjo is involved at least.]
The fact they seem to be taking the warmth of their victims and making them return to the start of the forest...that is nothing like any of the demons or shadows I have encountered.
