[sticky entry] Sticky: UNTITLED

USER: #FFFFFF

Please complete these quests. If you do, there may be a reward awaiting you.

Once upon a time, there lived a young man in an azure district. While his family wanted for nothing in terms of wealth, the man's heart sought one most felt was beyond his reach. His heart's desire was a poor but comely man who hailed from the crimson district, and his beauty had already drawn several suitors from that same district to his side in the hopes of claiming his heart for their own.

The young man despaired, for he knew to approach his love whilst hailing from another color would be a fruitless effort indeed. Thankfully there was another, a true friend, a young woman of the brighter, sunnier district, who was there to offer her assistance. It was then that he was told of a legend passed down through her family: in the forest dwelt a miraculous hen whose feathers shimmered with every color of the rainbow. The one who obtained the hen and brought it back would achieve true love with whomever he gifted it to. But a warning accompanied the legend. If the hen did not come willingly, or if the seeker succumbed to temptation, a terrible curse would befall them.

Determined to acquire this hen, the young man entered the forest. As he walked deeper and deeper, the path grew more and more tangled, until he came to a split in the path. One path went left, clogged with bushes and brambles. The other beckoned right, golden flowers and gleaming gem-like rocks lining it.

The leaves of the trees rustled and sighed, and he thought he heard a voice, no more than a whisper, say, "No bond strengthens from an easy path."

The young man was then reminded that he would be tested, and chose the left path. As it appeared, he faced a difficult progression, and was becoming weary and parched when he glimpsed through the trees a clear spring where the water shone like diamonds. The path continued past it, but the man paused.

Again, the trees seemed to whisper to him, "No bond strengthens from a fickle heart that cannot commit."

The young man steeled himself and continued, his legs sore and bleeding from the brambles, until he entered a clearing. There, he beheld a beautiful hen with shimmering, colorful feathers. So gladdened by the sight was he that he did not heed the warning whisper of the trees this time, merely grabbing the hen and running back through the forest with it clasped to his breast.

The hen was presented to his love, and a marriage was arranged between the two of them nigh immediately.

But the forest was displeased, and thus laid a curse upon the young man and the entire town. From that day forward, the young man began to change. He found himself unable to care for his family. He found himself unable to understand why he had wished to give his heart to another.

And as his bonds weakened and broke and he failed to make new ones, he began to forget those around him. Eventually, he was last seen walking into the forest and was never heard from again.

But the forest appeared to have crept closer to the town, and the town itself began to lose the color it had treasured for so long. More and more of the townsfolk began to succumb to the curse that the young man had unleashed, and as more of them disappeared, the forest drew closer still.

Until there was no one left and the town was silent and drab.

To this day, the town waits for someone to break the curse, to restore color and to demonstrate once more the true strength of bonds.

THE END

#27DEA9 GET YO CHARACTER SHEET

In Kaoru's post, we've learned that the old woman in the woods told her that only those who have a page in the book may go home. If you believe this old woman, then I have news for you:

The other day, Archer, Wei Wuxian, and I found a chest in the woods that contains these pages. You may only bring your own back with you to place within the book.

To reach the chest, you must enter the woods with someone and pass three trials...

[ She'll detail the three trials as given by the mods here: the fake voices, the climbing, and the sacrifice. ]

Be safe. I hope for those who wish to go home, you will be happy. But for those who wish to stay, I hope that there is still a way to make this town safe.

[ With that, she closes her laptop. ]

So Mythra and I (Duo) took a boat out pretty far on the water with my generator and a motor.

What did we find?

Drumroll please!

Nothing.

Okay, that's a lie. We found a ghost ship, and it attacked us, but at the end of it all we got for the trouble was a flag and a sunburn for being out on the water for so damn long. We tried to bring a skeleton back but it kinda... dissolved the second we hit land.

So did we miss anything important? Anyone found anything more interesting?

... anyone have any aloe?

Ow.

#FF8080 (backdated to before the event)

so there's this hag old granny in the forest. the last time i met her she asked us riddles and if we answered it correctly we'd get to ask one question. and if we got it wrong we got punished. which is unfair. i know riddles are normal for fairytales but some of us are just really bad at riddles!

anyway. lan wangji and i went into the forest a couple of days ago to see if we could find her again. since it seems like if we focus on something we can usually find it.

and we did find her! and she answered one question from each of us and wouldn't answer anymore like a real cheapskate.

but according to her, mr. f is the town, which honestly makes that whole 'clean up the town' quest we got in the beginning really, really weird.

but also, those pages we've been getting? apparently, the people who have those pages in the book get to go home in the end. which also brings up some new questions but it also makes me feel like i deserve a refund for that stupid mirror i got from the wish quest. since if those people's pages weren't in the book then the mirror had been lying!

[And she doesn't want to think about the implications of that...where did those people go?]

I get that we shouldn't kill the things that came out of the well. I didn't want to do it in the first place.

But how do we get rid of them?

I'm tired of mine staring at me!

When I used to say I wanted people to pay more attention to me, this isn't what I meant.

The creatures from the well.

I don’t think they’re merely dolls or monsters. I think something is wrong with the well. When I used my purification on them, I was able to extract a feeling. They were once human. It’s as if everything that made up who “they” were was ripped out of them, but this town has shown me what mindless dolls feel like before.

This is different.

I know they’re dangerous, but I’m afraid to kill any more of them. Please be careful.

[He's really only doing this because he's...fairly sure only Wei Wuxian and Pyra know his hexcode. So this is...basically anonymous, right?]

What would be an acceptable gift for a young maiden?

Anything related to cooking will not be considered.

[Look, he knows where his cooking skills are! And it's not in the kitchen.]

Greetings. This is Archer. I hope that you are all faring well after the recent abductions. But it is concerning that and many other strange things in this realm which I wish to speak of today. I refer in particular to that book which Mythra and I have discovered underneath this town.

Last month, I have received a quill. How I came to obtain this item is best left unsaid, but this quill will write upon no surface save for that book. A few short lines scribbled onto that book’s pages have yielded me no results, but perhaps defter hands than mine can reveal its secrets. To that end I have left the quill within the room where the book lies, so that any denizen of this world might use it freely. I believe that, considering the recently published end to Mr. F’s woeful tale, we are meant to rewrite the story of this world. As such, it seems fair that all of us play a part in its completion.

Also, and this is very important! I have left a second quill there. This quill is very special and is quite a pretty shade of blue. By no means should you touch this second quill. Only true kings may use it and no other.

That is all.

[ OOC: This post refers to an especially significant quest reward from last month which might have a strong impact on the endgame. It’s a magical quill that can only work on the book found a while back. Feel free to let your characters use this quill as you will, regardless of whether or not you have CR with Tristan! Just remember to report to the mods if your character writes anything substantial with it!

Also the second bit of this network post is just a flimsy ruse to ICly keep a certain someone from making some very irresponsible decisions RE: the quill. Your characters are perfectly free to touch that second quill (it’s just a random goose feather, and has now been stolen) if you want, or even call him out on the weirdness of it all. That feather is otherwise practically useless and just there as a silly decoy.

ETA: OOC plotting here and a log for threading out book shenanigans is up! ]

Red

This is Wei Wuxian. Hello!

Let’s all have a discussion conference!!!

"Young master Wei," you ask, "what’s a discussion conference?" Well, I'll tell you! Back home, it’s something the great cultivation sects do. They get together at regular intervals to talk about various important issues concerning them.

But discussion conferences aren’t all work. There are always games and competitions to start, like sword fighting and archery. And then, to follow, a banquet.

So! Let’s discuss! A lot has happened recently in this town, and I think we should share what we know or suspect. Some decisions need to be made, too.
[ Regarding, for instance, Link’s post, as well as the book that was discovered. ] It’s better that we talk about them face-to-face. Magical tools like this one are convenient, but they have their disadvantages.

But it'll be boring if that's all we do, so I’ve got wine, food, and fireworks. Let's play games, let's eat, let's drink, and let's talk.

[ Is this just an excuse to have a summer party? This might be just an excuse to have a summer party. ]

So I hope you’ll all join me a week from today for the Chroma Discussion Conference!

Hello, everyone. This is Link. I'm back, from... the woods. I have been staying in my home while recovering my color. I wasn't able to use my laptop until then, but I can now.

First: is everyone alright? I haven't seen any more dryads since that day. Have we located everyone who was taken by them, and have we confirmed that everyone was either healed or came back as I did?

Second: I have something very important to talk about. Please, if you know someone who has not yet seen this post, tell them to read it.

I am worried about what we've been doing lately with the woods and the Guardians. I had kept my thoughts to myself... I felt that I didn't know enough about what happened, killing the two that are dead so far, and I didn't want to step out of line. And I still don't assume to know better than everyone else here, but... After this, I don't think I can stay quiet anymore.

I don't agree with killing the Guardians. I don't think we should be trying to hunt down the last one.

Unless I'm mistaken, we know nothing about them. We don't know why they're here, or what their purpose is... I know they attacked people, but in my humble opinion, the those of the forest have the right to do so. I don't know what these Guardians are any more than you all, but whether they're spirits, or protectors, or ancient forces of some kind, we shouldn't be disrespecting them, and we definitely shouldn't be killing them.

People can correct me on this if I'm wrong, but didn't the trees start to encroach on the town after the first one was killed? How do we know that Guardian wasn't actually protecting us? And now, the recent attack on the town.

The same could be said about the second one, too. After we killed it, the quests every month began to get strange, didn't they? What if they just keep getting worse and worse?

And ... I'm sorry for what I am about to say. I can't say I wouldn't have done the same, since I don't know all the details of what happened. But I object to people acting on their own when it comes to this stuff, without asking everyone else.

It was irresponsible and inconsiderate. We could be in serious danger now.

If I had known people were trying to find another one to kill, maybe I would have said something sooner and none of these terrible things would have happened.

I'm sure people may respond to this correcting me, or giving extra information, or even arguing... that's fine... but I think we need to discuss what's going on.

Quest 67 certainly is something, isn't it? They do seem to be escalating in what they're asking everyone to do.

Though it does make me wonder; has anyone in this place died here? For all it's wants and purposes this place doesn't seem so keen to keep it's inhabitants alive more recently.

Hello everyone! I'm not quite sure how this whole thing works but apparently writing something on here will allow me to post a message for everyone to see?

Anyway, I just want to make a PSA of sorts, since I have a feeling it might become relevant at some point...

If you happen to find an (unattached) arm anywhere, please:
1) DO NOT APPROACH IT!!!!
2) Come find me, Kasen Ibaraki, and alert me of where it is ASAP. I am currently residing in Ruga.

This is for your own safety!

That said, it's nice to meet everyone!

#FFFFE0 - A Ritual

I knew it would eventually come to this.

I’m going to raise the bodies in the burial mound mentioned by a previous poster. I cannot promise much, but I can assure you that it is within my ability to revive and control such basic creatures as the living dead. Although their capabilities are limited, they will surely be of more use to us when able of speech than when not.

For this, I will need a generous portion of blood, and any questions for them you may have. I would prefer not to sacrifice any souls to this either, but if someone would like to meet their end by my Moon Rune in order to guarantee the success of both this and the morbid quest that has been presented to us, I may not refuse.

That is all.

#27DEA9: Post about Guardian-Killing

[ #27DEA9! Sometime during the evening of the 4th...]

Hey, me again with more news.

Another guardian has been defeated by Archer, Xie Lian, and yours truly.

If things go to hell because of it like the new "until-there-was-no-one-left-and-the-town-was-silent-and-drab" part of Mr. F's story, you can blame me. I was the one who dragged the other two along to slay it.
[ SHE TAKES FULL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR BAD DECISIONS. ]

By the way there's land beyond the forest, but you can't interact with it.

Also, apparently the flower crown made from the philosopher stone's quest can grow normal trees that the cursed-trees ignore. I'll lend it out if anyone wishes to use it to go plant insta-trees around their houses or something, if you feel like some of the cursed plant life is getting a little too annoying.

You're welcome.

[ Thank you for coming to her TED Talk, she hopes the information is useful to somebody. Feel free to ask Pyra for the flower crown; it can help with slowing down the advance of trees! ]

#27DEA9

[ #27DEA9 ]

A couple things.

1. The key to that door in Flavo appeared. Turns out, it was in the church all along, although it didn't appear until recently.
[ After a ritual was completed? How weird. ] Archer and I used the key to open the door, and we found a small room with just a few candles that were burned down their wicks, a table, and a book.

The book is filled with empty pages, and it seems to be connected to the town in some way. It also reeks of dark energy.

For anyone who wants to take a look at it, we left it there. Don't go destroying it until we all decide what to do with it.

[ Mythra's first post, yaaay. ]

2. Also heads up on Mr. F's newer part to the story. The trees are creeping further and further in, it seems like they might just start sapping up all the color. Kind of annoying, if you ask me. Anyway, for philosopher stone's quest, I threw in water, soil, and brick into the cauldron from each district, which formed a pendant that tugs in the direction of anything with color.

If you want to borrow it to explore into the forest, just let me know. And if you need an extra hand in exploring the forest, I'm available.

3. A long time ago I went into the forest with a friend, we found a burial mound with about 30 individuals within it, adults and children alike, with skeletons mostly intact. From what we could find, there wasn't some sort of great battle or slaughter that did them in.
[ Wow, wow, so much tact. ] Some had personal effects on them, like rings or toys and scraps of clothes. There were wraiths that didn't take too kindly about us being there, and if they touched you, you'd lose some of your color. We still have bones available if anyone wants to inspect or use them.
